Pre-race routine:

up early. oatmeal, protein shake. small cup coffee. 2 chocolate donuts, bottle f water on drive down to race. got there 1 1/2 hours before start.

quick swim, thats it.

too many people in wave. 250 entrants and only 3 waves. start was chaotic and got swam over etc on mumnerous occasions.
What would you do differently?:

start off faster to try and find open water. need to get out f the middle of the pack.

short distace to exit. timing system was strange. had to have a paddle wiped over number. not an ankle chip. delayed as i hd to stand in lne behind 2 others tobe swiped.

nothing. good quick transition. no socks?

still not strong enough on bike. need to stay in aero position longer. good pace though and felt ok getting off for the run.

best run in a tri by far. 12 th place was great. take away T2 tme and I had a 18:28 run = 6:13/mile. felt comfortable all the way. very happy

Nice run, and don't beat yourself up on the swim time!  DQ events runs another race next weekend, Belleplain, and I would recommend it!  I have done it twice, and love it.

your run matt was awesome...you get better and better every race you do, and thats including the 5k and 10k races also...great job on your overall placing!!
