Hi! I'm really glad I found this site a few weeks ago. I've been reading and absorbing. I completed my first ever tri yesterday. It was a sprint and I have to say it was a challenge and I loved every minute of it! Lake swim and a very very hilly bike (biking is my worst event), I hope some of you will share riding wisdom like which gear does what..etc. On my bike portion the chain fell off about 5 times! Needless to say the bike is being fixed right now.

I have a practice sprint on Wednesday with my tri club, and another race on Sunday. My husband used to do tri's (Olympic) about 10 years ago and just got back into them. Yesterday was his first back from that layoff. He stayed with me the whole time so I wouldn't feel so overwhelmed. I was thankful for that as he had to sacrifice a lot to hang back with me, but I now have so much more confidence and determination. See you at the races!

Welcomce and Congrats to you Jeanne. Yes Harriman is beautiful and the event is run very well. I'm a 1/2 hour from there and I try to get up there to do the bike ride for "fun". Actually I must say the Tiarati Hill used to KILL me, now i don't mind it so much and the rest of the ride is just beautiful. I now even enjoy the downhill - the first few times I was scared sh***tless! I recommend getting up ther b4 the August tri if it's not too far. The more you do it the easier it gets. I may see you ther if I don't go to Oly distance. Glad to have you. good luck, Mark

Well, I had to do it a couple of times by myself during the race, then hubby got frustrated and we switched bikes, so he had to fix it the next three times it fell off!

Took the bike in yesterday and just picked it up. Mechanic said derailleur was bent. Tested bike on hill and it is working OK. Have a mock sprint tri tomorrow with my Tri club. We shall see how it goes!

I will admit, I know less than nothing about bikes, but am a quick learner!
