Yeah ran it a few weeks ago up down up down up down then a little flat. I hope the turn around is before that big hill with the wall next to it cause that was a killer.

The turnaround is at the bottom of the hill about 200ft south of where the path crosses the road.  So, the hardest part of the run is right after you turn around.  But there is a aid station right there so you can get a little refreshed before heading back up.

Jayhox, are you referring to the short course or long course?

I'm very excited for this race... This is my first tri and I'm coming in injured and wide eyed... I fully expect to finish back of the pack but I'm still pumped up about it.

Results are in!  Due to threatening weather (that fizzled out before it hit Topeka) they shortened the long distance swim to (400m) and bike (12mi) to the sprint distances, then left the run alone for what I maintain was an 8 mile run.  I'll have to check the Garmin, but my pace was routinely under 7:30/mi and a few under 7:00, but the official results have me at an 8:11 pace which isn't close to right.  Really happy with my bike pace.  After the KS Half Iron, the bike was a hammer fest with little wind and tiny hills in comparison.  The water felt like a swimming pool compared to Clinton last weekend.

The Tinman is a great even that I would recommend to everyone who has never raced in it.

JayHox I saw you several times today sporting the neon.  Check your results again as I think they were adjusted within the past few hours. My timex was telling me I was almost a minute faster than the results showed.  I just check it again and mine looks correct and it is showing yours at a 7:24 pace.  Fun race.  I was disappointed by the shortened course but I understand why they did it.  That was pretty much the worst case scenario for me.

Great race everyone. I was very pleased because My last event was KC TRI and my time 2:05:659:07 so that means that I dropped overall just over 15 min off my time and that was with dropping my chain on the bike and had to stop to fix it. Just need to work on getting a better place in my Div. but overall  I was 289 out of 3 something in the short course!!

Jayhox, nice work!

Thought about adding this last minute, but glad I decided not to since they shortened it.  The rain forecast fizzled all weekend.  Good for Tri's, bad for my yard.

It would have been a tight squeeze to get it in, and only worth it for the full long course of suffering.  Guess it was meant to be that I shouldn't have gone.

Maybe next year.

Thanks!  I did notice that this morning.  Ended up 1st overall in the swim and 4th on the bike.  thrilled with that, and now need to work more on the run.  With the swim and bike placings, I would have liked to see where I would have ended up for the full distance.  They essentially took away my biggest advantages.  Oh well . . .

Jayhox - that is an impressive swim time. This was my first tri and my swim did not go well. I am actually very strong swimmer but this was my first venture into the "mob". The wave I went in with was pretty large (I think) and I never could get out of the pack. What is your strategy (or is it simply "swim faster than everyone so they can't catch you"?).

I have practiced OWS several times and was aware of the mosh-pit, but for my first time I never could get into a rythm or any kind of flow as I was constantly running over people.  My buddy who is a slower swimmer than me even beat me out of the water (he finished right after you overall).

Yes, essentially.  You need to position yourself up front when everyone lines up and sprint like he!! into the water to stay ahead of the mob.  The first 50 meters is your chance to keep your separation from the group.  Depending on the event, I may have a couple people with me after the first 10-150 meters which is fine because we won't have any interest in coming into contact with each other.
