Sunny
Total Time = 6h 40m 15s
Overall Rank = 1300/
Age Group = 55-59
Age Group Rank = 31/
Pre-race routine:

I got to the course early so I could get a good parking spot. Set up transition then just hung for a while.
Event warmup:

Not much. Walking around, swinging arms, etc. Figured the day would be long enough.
Swim
  • 42m 10s
  • 2310 yards
  • 01m 50s / 100 yards
Comments:

It was a good swim. Water was murky but it doesn't really matter. Seemed liked a long course though, but they all do :) Seeded myself front row off to the side so I had clear sailing for most of the first leg.
What would you do differently?:

Try to catch a good draft. I couldn't really get on anyone's feet.
Transition 1
  • 04m 33s
Comments:

I take the extra few seconds to make sure everything is in place - I'll be on the bike for the next 3 hours.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 3h 06m 1s
  • 56 miles
  • 18.06 mile/hr
Comments:

Not sure what was wrong. I was tired as soon as I got on the bike. The swim wasn't tough so I don't know what it was. Never did get into a groove. Maybe it was the hills, who knows. I felt better at IMFL than I did here.
What would you do differently?:

Not sure.
Transition 2
  • 03m 50s
Comments:

Didn't waste too much time here. Could always be faster though.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 2h 43m 41s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 12m 29s  min/mile
Comments:

I did not want to run. I was done when I got off the bike. Never felt this way. Yea the first mile is always a little tough but I usually get in a groove. I just couldn't do it. Throughout the whole run I don't think I ran farther than a half mile before walking. I can't blame the heat or the hills. Just a tough day for me.
What would you do differently?:

Not sure.
Post race
Warm down:

Grabbed some water and went over to visit the team in the shade. I was going to grab something to drink but the food line was just too long. They needed a separate line for food and a line for just grabbing a drink. My car was close so I went and got some chocolate milk out of the cooler.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I have no idea. I drank, took salt, ate enough. It was bad from the moment I came out of the swim.

Event comments:

I'll go back. Great race for a first time race. Nothing wrong with the course, actually it was pretty good. Great spectators and community support. It was neat seeing the spectators 3 times on the run. Last time around telling them "thanks and we'll see you next year". Other than the food tent it was a great time.
