Run
Comments: It was very hot, the first 16 miles went great, the wheels started to fall off the last 10. Starting at about mile 14, we went 9 miles straight down a road with no shade and fresh asphalt. The crowd was great providing hoses, ice etc. wherever they could, but temps quickly climbed to 85. yuck. It became a 9min run 1min walk, which quickly became a 5min run 1 min walk. My core temp felt great, heart and lungs felt great, the legs were dying. hips hurt, achilles hurt, feet hurt, knee started hurting. I came to the realization that I may just not be set to run marathons. Post race
Warm down: tried to walk around, but the calves started seizing. hit the massage tent, ate an ice cream. What limited your ability to perform faster: i'm not sure if i just didnt train enough, my body hates me, or if it was just too hot. Event comments: The race group was great, the support on the course was great, they couldnt control the weather. Aid stations, both official and non official were great, the crowds were great. I would have had a good time if it werent so damn hot. I would for sure do this race again. Last updated: 2012-02-14 12:00 AM
