not sure why more don't do this event. Especially the people who do not like the commericialization of the WTC.

HFP puts on an AMAZING weekend for all the racers. It is a small venue so the entries are limited but this event doesn't sell out. At packet pickup Friday, noon, 5 hours before the first race, people are still registering.

is it the difficulty?

the egos not wanting a large number next to their HIM time?

whatever the reason is I think more people should check this out. 4 races, 3 days... 1 epic event... no doubt.

I did the race last year.  I really enjoyed except for a few reasons:

1. Bike course is extremely challenging.

2. Add to that the run course is very hilly and on gravel.

3. It is real early in the season and hard to be trained for it (especially going outdoors).

Overall, though, I really enjoyed it and the weekend of camping out and doing some tri's and being with everyone was great.  Would do it again probably if the run course was better.  I can live with the hills on the bike.

It used to sell out.  It is a great race with an awesome atmosphere.

My favorite part of the race is the swim in the afternoon tri since it is after the bike.  The leg cramps are interesting.

I definitely want to get back to theat race sometime in the future.

Or people just haven't heard of it. Ironman events are easy to find with the big name recognition. I'm more interested in these though. I like the challenging courses, so much more engaging.

I did the race last year.  I really enjoyed it BECAUSE except for a few reasons:

1. Bike course is extremely challenging.

2. Add to that the run course is very hilly and on gravel.

Overall, though, I really enjoyed it and the weekend of camping out and doing some tri's and being with everyone was great.  Would do it again probably if the run course was better.  I can live with the hills on the bike.

This is what I would've written with one minor change in bold.

I'd definately do it if it didn't mean traveling over 5000 miles to Ohio.

Thanks for making me seem like a wuss who can't handle the hills!  I'm even from Ohio and do hills all the time.  Really the deal-breaker is the hills on the run and it being so early.  When I did it in 2011, the bike leg of the Friday sprint was the first time outside on the bike!  But, there was also a lot of rain in the spring in Ohio last year.

Would love to go back some time.  It is the best deal in triathlon and still a lot of fun!
