Anyone in San Antonio see this?  I don't think it was advertised much.  400m pool swim at the Aquatic Center, 10 mile bike and 2 mile run.  I was thinking of doing it for a fun speed workout, but would like more info.  I'm hoping its not one of those indoor tri kind of things!  I'll give a call tomorrow and see...  It's on June 10 at 0dark thirty (0630 for you civilians!)

Anyone else interested?

First I heard was your post.  Aquatic center is the 50 meter outdoor pool Benz Engleman (SP?) entrance.  Run-a-way used to do 4-6 a year from there. Depending on course ride has some elevation changes...no problem, run may or may not start uphill past barracks into one or two housing areas.  50 meter pool is great but you need to lap it couple of times before race day just to get use to the 50 meter pool.

I went to the Jimmy Brought Fitness Center today and checked; they said it was an outdoor tri. That's a relief!

it's only $20...not a bad deal if you want to get your tri on!

I attached a text version of the race flyer if anyone is interested... I think I'm gonna hit it up

Here is the link to the application.  I think you just take it into the Jimmy Brought Fitness Center and pay there to sign up.  Gotta do it by June 3 it says.

I did one there last year. A mini sprint. my first race ever actually. The pool was good. The bike was on the base. The run was fine as well.

If it is the same, a couple of things to prepare for would be:

It started late. From what I gathered, that race series always started late.

The order ended up being swim run bike. We ran from the outdoor pool to the bikes.

Not sure if they have fixed that or not. Still, it was a race and therefor very very fun.

Well for $20 we will find out one way or another next Sunday!  I recruited a few folks from my office to come out and have fun with us as well.  I wonder how many folks will show up since it didn't seem to be advertised much.

I will be in SA on Tuesday.  Are they a stickler on June 3rd.  For $20.00 seems like a deal. Is this place hard to find.  I will be near BAMC.

thanks

Not sure but I doubt they would be.  The race is at the Aquatic Center which is near BAMC.  If you go in the Binz-Engleman gate just down the road from BAMC you should be able to find it pretty easy.  I'll see if I can get a map and upload it for you.

Thanks.  Looking forward to the Gator in Bourne.  If I miss  this one on June 10th hope to catch you at the Gator.

At the Captex I was offered a discount to sign up for the Kerrville, TRi. I saved $10.00.  I am doing the OlY.  Anyone know anything about this Tri.  How are the Hills?

Yeah definitely I'll be out there too.  I am planning on doing Kerville as well, the 70.3 though.  I don't know the course in particular but that area is prety hilly in general.

I attached a map of FSH that I got from Google.  #19 is the Aquatic Center, 3300 Williams Rd.

You'll go in the Binz-Engleman gate but I don't think you can turn right onto Williams as the map suggests because that area is fenced off for construction and the actual ID check is after Williams.  So you'll probably have to go up to Garden, take a right and go up to WW White and take a right and that will dead end into Williams.  Go left and the Aquatic Center is on the right hand side.

Hope to see you there!

My wife and I will be at this race.  It might be my only chance at a tri this season, so I figured I might as well do it.  Hope everyone does well and enjoys the race.

I will check it out, but my wife has put a damper on this regarding a promise I made about church and furniture shopping.  Not looking good for the 10th.  I got the mean look.

whoever can make it, we should get together for a BT picture or something.  I'll be in the Team Type 1 kit with the red/silver Cervelo P1.

I did basically this one almost two years ago.  The one I did there was an indoor swim, short jog to the bikes outside, 2 loops on a basically rectangular flat loop, followed by a pretty flat out and back for the run (all of it is on base).  I had a good time and that day there were several of the wounded warriors particapating and it gave me a chance to thank some of our great service men and women.

Man that was a fun and fast course!  Definitely got my $20 worth.  Did everyone else have as much fun as I did?

I sure got my $20 worth of a fun, low-key race too!  Certainly was well run for such a small event - on time and organized!

Great job out there!
