I am ending up with a triple tone stripe because my tri shorts have an 11" inseem , my bike shorts are a 9", and my running shorts are  6" so I end up with a gradient pattern down my quads. I try to wear the shorter one as much as I can so it doesn't get too rediculous looking though.

I don't understand why they just don't change the cut of bike jerseys and tri tops. It's obviously a problem for a ton of people. Would it kill the designers to add a few inches of material down the back of the shirt?!

I only wish I trained enough to earn tan lines...

I used to kinda fret it.  Now I feel like I'm an outsider if I don't have blinding sharp tan lines. It's like shaving your legs or drinking expresso or only using white bar tape... it's just part of cycling culture.

I do find the humor in the fact that it always looks like I have socks on though

Specifically why I got no-show tab socks to run in and I don't wear socks on the bike anyway. My feet (except for the tri-vent vent) are pale but from ankle bump up is tan.

No tan lines from this year yet, but I do still have one on my back from LAST season!

*Flexing* All the older ladies at the bars don't mind a little crazy tan line. HA. Cool

Yes, because I don't, in the normal course of events, do 3-4 hour runs, but I do 3-4 hour rides. And that gets me closer to mid-day UV exposure. And I live in the tropics and have plenty of melanin--light olive skin that can be pretty pale where the sun doesn't hit it, and golden brown, where it does, so they're pretty dramatic. Suncreen doesn't make a difference--it just keeps me from burning. I do wear arm coolers on the bike, but can't stand the thought of something on my legs as well.

BrianRunsPhilly - 2012-05-31 11:22 AM We were out at an OWS a couple weeks ago and my buddy was sporting a severe sunburn stripe between his tri top and shorts. 112 miles bent over on the bike will toast more than your legs!

Also known as "the whale tale"!

I have resorted to a tankini/bikini top and board shorts as my summer swim outfit due to tan lines from bike shorts/running shorts.

I've had well defined tan lines for years from soccer kits, so quite used to it! One where the shorts ended, where the top of my soccer socks ended, and the farmer's tan lines on the arms and around the neck. I do enjoy being able to wear tritops to get more skin exposed. Nice for the low cut, sleeveless blouses.

The benefits of triathlon are without number.

"Clean your room"
"Do I have to?"
"I could wear my one piece tri-suit when I pick you up at school tomorrow."
"Excuse me, I have to go clean my room."

HAHAHAHAHAHAAA!!!  Thank you so much for that :D

Danno77 - 2012-05-31 10:08 AM Super sweet tan line from bike/tri shorts that looks even more awesome when you wear your split shorts for running races? Please tell me that I'm not alone. I load on the sunscreen, but it doesn't appear to help. Maybe I should Train more in my split shorts.

Yes, they do. I personally hate them. As a girl, the parts that are white are the parts I really need tan when I'm in a bathing suit.

Some of us think it's hot to see tri tan lines on a girl in a swimsuit.
