Overall Rank = 331/498
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 28/36
Pre-race routine:

Coffee, banana, drove an hour to Onset.
Event warmup:

A little bit of hopping up and down just to keep warm!
Swim
  • 00m
  • 586 yards
  • / 100 yards
Comments:

Swim was cancelled due to storm and horrible conditions. :(
What would you do differently?:

Have nicer weather so I can swim!! This is my strongest event, so I was more than a little bit disappointed that it was cancelled. Oh well, what can you do?!
Transition 1
  • 01m 28s
Comments:

Super wet and soggy bike!! But my first race on the new road bike. LOVED this experience!
What would you do differently?:

Pray harder for no rain.
Bike
  • 35m 22s
  • 10 miles
  • 16.97 mile/hr
Comments:

Totally wet roads. I'm surprised I didn't see any wipeouts, it was that scary!
What would you do differently?:

Would have cornered and turned faster if the roads were dry, but I'm pretty happy with my bike pace - big improvement from last year's season!
Transition 2
  • 02m 5s
Comments:

Slower transition times due to wet conditions and absolutely SOAKED shoes/clothes!
Run
  • 28m 36s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 09m 14s  min/mile
Comments:

This 2nd run was much slower than the 1st run but I beat my 10 min/mile goal, so I'm happy with that! The one HUGE benefit to the lousy weather (high 50s and cloudy/rainy) was that I was very comfortable and didn't feel like I was overheating like I usually do, yay! :)
What would you do differently?:

I have to get faster on the run!!
Post race
Warm down:

walked around a bit and hung out with tri team to watch awards ceremony. it was so freaking cold!!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

definitely weather! need to work on run speed, too.

Event comments:

I'm sure this is an even better race in nicer weather conditions! The lousy weather really put a damper on things. I'll probably do this race again next year.

Nicely done. Congratulations on not bailing when they canceled the swim. A whole bunch of (presumably) primarily swimmers just took their toys and went home instead of doing the makeshift duathlon. It's not easy going ahead when your best event is wiped out, so good for you.

I know just how you feel to have the swim cancelled! Gives an advantage to the bikers and the runners! I think you made lemonade from the lemons they gave you! Really nice bike speed considering the conditions and I'm surprised you didn't see any wipeouts too! A nice warm up for your next tri!!

Nice Job! It was really a shame that it was a terrible day but what can you do.  I did this as well and the bike was horrible and not worth getting hurt over.  Congrats!

Great job Kristen!  That's a really nice bike pace for those kind of conditions.  Way to hang in there and next time you'll get to rock the swim!
