Overall Rank = 24/83
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 2/3
Pre-race routine:

Up at 5:35. Hit the snooze button once. At Clif bar, coffee and siped on some Gatorade on the drive.
Event warmup:

The start was delayed 45 minutes to let the fog lift. Swam a bit.

My run warm-up was chasing a pit bull across I-70 on my way to the race. The poor thing, with a collar and a leash, was trying to cross from the median on a stretch of raised highway. He had nowhere to go. I got him far enough along the highway that he made his way across and into the wooded ditch. I hope that he found his way home safely.

I don't know about this time. It's totally suspect because I was to not THAT fast.
What would you do differently?:

Swim at least once in open water before the race!
Transition 1
  • 02m 55s
Comments:

Slow, slow, slow. Just seemed to muddle through. I guess having to put all my gear in the trash bag to be transported back to the finish took some extra time.
What would you do differently?:

More Body Glide?
Bike
  • 52m 42s
  • 15.7 miles
  • 17.87 mile/hr
Comments:

A fun, fast ride. Kept the legs spinning and cruised. There were some spots into the wind where I found that my speed totally dropped. Still felt strong.

24oz Gstorade & Clif Shot.

What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Transition 2
  • 01m 24s
Comments:

Dismounted and entered T2 but the volunteers didn't have my transition bag ready so I went straight in to rack my bike and sat down to take off the bike shoes. Someone brought my bag to me just in time. Put on socks & shoes with no problem.
What would you do differently?:

Invest in tri-specific shoe laces and try to run without socks.
Run
  • 28m 45s
  • 3.1 miles

Just the right pace. I had to stop with half a mile left to re-tie my shoe lace, I ought to look into those Yanks.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around. Ate a Panera Cinna-Crunch bagel. Waited for transportation for me and my bike to the race start where my car was parked.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Didn't really have the training mental edge with all the moving stuff going on. As well, I hadn't been eating real great and have added some extra pounds on my hips. Ugh.

Event comments:

Excellent event. Great volunteers. Lots of first-timers which added to the friendly morning of racing.

One snag of the point-to-point race was getting people back to their vehicles afterwards. More vans and trailers for the bike would have been appreciated.

Oh, that's sad about the pup, good for you for trying to help it, I'm sure he made his was home okay.

Again, a good race--and looking at your most recent race, I don't think the swim time was suspect-nice job! You had alot going on, and still had a great race!
