I was thinking of doing Barb's this year, but I don't think I'll be ready for a half by Aug.

But, if you're in town, drop me a line.  We'll be at the race-site because Eric's company always has a couple of relay teams racing that day too.  And being the professional spectator, I'm happy to go out and make a fool of myself! scream my head off! cheer!

I've been trying to find out info on the courses (like how hilly it is).  It looks like the Barb's course is very similar to the Vineman 70.3.

Map of Barb's (it's the "same as the first loop of the Full Vineman", so ignore the stuff past 56 mi on the elevation profile):

Map of Vineman 70.3:

I found this link on the Vineman 70.3 bike course:  http://www.sftriclub.org/training/bike/courses/vineman/

Eric's training for the Vineman Half, and I think there's a plan to do the run course on Sat (the 17th).

I have never run the course, but I've ridden it on the bike several times, and I think I was in the Jeep when we previewed it for a friend who was racing.  It's got some rollers, but nothing really scary (at least compared to other venues around here).

But, it IS hot and exposed, with little shade.  We were spectating the relay last year, and I got sunburned, even though it was cooler than it was supposed to be, and a bit foggy for most of the morning.
