For those of you who have done stand alone marathons, do you find your marathon training long runs easier than your IM long runs?  Just did my final long run for IM CdA, a 20 miler, on friday and still don't feel like I have recovered yet.  But then again, yesterday I had to do a 100 mile ride.  Not much time to recover.

No question, particularly for the first few miles until my legs loosen up somewhat.  But in general, I do my long ride/brick run the day before my long run so I'd expect that to be the case.  IM training almost makes me long for the days of training for "just" a marathon!

Nope...my long IM training runs are easier, for the simple reason that I don't attempt to hold the same pace I do for standalone mary training runs.

My longest training run for CDA was 16 miles.  I only did 15 before St George.  I have to say my IM training is easier because for stand alone marathons I always get a couple 20 milers in.

Same for me.  I don't run as far when training for IM.  (Well, I don't run for a long either... My longest IM long runs are 2.5 hours - otherwise it takes too long for me to recover and my training at the beginning of the next week is junk).

I find my IM long runs easier.  It could be that I am just in better shape when I do them, but they don't fatigue me nearly as much as marathon long runs.

Mary long run is 20 miles, I don't do more than 18 miles for an IM long run.  The IM run is the day after a long bike, so my pace expectations are lower/slower.
