Age Group = clyde
Age Group Rank = 7/26
Pre-race routine:

Woke up to some serious wind and rain. First Oly, so checked and re-rechecked everything, had a bagel with nutella and peanut butter. Setting up transition was a little chaotic as the rain made getting everything set a little more challenging, couple extra trips to the truck.
Event warmup:

Very lite swim, didn't have time for much else. Had a bit of a delay from one of the buoy's broke free, only set us back about 5 minutes.
Swim
  • 28m 34s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 44s / 100 yards
Comments:

Felt really good about the swim. They put in some additional markers for siting, very helpful.
What would you do differently?:

Swim a little harder, been having some issues with OWS and took it a little easier to make sure I stayed in control.
Transition 1
  • 04m 3s
Comments:

With all the rain I planned to take the transition extra slow. Still had bags on the bike in hopes of keeping something dry in case the rain let up. Putting on dry socks is a pain when everything is soaked.
What would you do differently?:

Push harder, I go sockless for sprints, and due to the rain didn't want to chance it, spent a lot of time trying to get socks on.
Bike
  • 1h 30m 41s
  • 25.68 miles
  • 16.99 mile/hr
Comments:

Took the big hill well, legs felt pretty strong throughout. Dropped my Gatorade bottle coming out of transition on the first hill, had to run back for it. Lost the chain twice going to granny gear towards the end. Minor set backs that I handled well. Due to all the rain my computer crapped out at mile 3, so had to use the force....
What would you do differently?:

Not sure, been training really hard over the winter, the wet course certainly caused me to hold back a little on the downhills.
Transition 2
  • 03m 3s
Comments:

Again, my goal was to finish this race and take the transitions easy. Changed socks and shirt which added a lot.
Run
  • 54m 25s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 08m 46s  min/mile
Comments:

Couple of hills that I really ran out of steam on, killed my pace.
What would you do differently?:

Train more hills...
