wnevala - 2012-06-06 2:41 PM Hello, I am going to assume the temp is around 69 or 70 degrees. I base that on measuring water temp last week in a nearby lake. I will be taking the official water temperature for the Trinona Event in the afternoon on Saturday. I will post the official temperature at packet pickup and will try to post it on here. Should be wetsuit legal if that is why you are asking. I did the New Bri Tri last Saturday and the water was perfect, around 69 degrees or so. You should have good temps to swim in this weekend. All the best, Bill Nevala USAT Official

Thanks, Bill

Wave assignments are up. The Oly goes after after the sprint... don't know that I've seen that before...

So I leave with the male 35-40 group. Is the a newly expanded group to make people like myself (who turned 2 score over the winter) feel young again?

They should really eyeball those results before posting.

Anyway, how was it for everyone? Tough day out there, esp if you were in the later waves.

Yah, it was a bit hot, but not as bad as I anticipated.  And I think Saturday in Central MN was hotter, so likely the Liberty racers suffered more heat than the Trinonans.

I was pleased with my race.  Race report is now in my blog.

Hilly isn't quite right.  10 miles of rollers followed by a 1.2 mile wall in the middle of the course leading up to a 4 mile stretch of strong headwinds,  http://app.strava.com/activities/10585654

Check out that max speed, 51.4mph!  That's an all time high for me.

51.4!!  Cripes!  I thought I was fast down that hill - my bike computer showed a max speed of 48 and I passed one biker and several cars and a ref.  Quite the exhilerating descent!

You guys are both nuts!! I was happy with my 44 mph top speed! I passed someone just after the decent, and I told him "Well THAT was fun!!"

On a semi-related note, was the bike course 24.8 miles? I've wondered for a while if my computer is "short," leading to slightly shorter distances and slightly lower averages. My computer gave me a slightly short bike with a 18.0 average, when the official results have me with a 19.0 average. So, was the bike a little short and they computed the average on a longer course? Or is my computer just a bit off?

p.s. Some "pre-race" photos up on my blog, with my full race report tomorrow. Jerry at MNTriNews might be posting about my race tomorrow too... we'll see...

That bike course is a great one.  The big hill along with the wind and heat slowed things a bit.

It was a hot day out there.  I really suffered near the end of the run.  I had one of those "oh crap, I'm not sweating anymore" moments about a mile from the finish with no choice but to run it in.

51.4!?! I'm jealous, I topped out at 47.8.  I remember thinking "I just exceeded the posted speed limit, THIS ROCKS!!!"

Very well described bike. I liked the pre-race meeting....."there will be an ambulance station at the top of the hill, as well as the bottom of the hill". Thankfully I didn’t need either one and hope know one else did either. Much respect for the guys that did it on a mountain bike.  There was one guy that must have been 6'6", 260lbs +.

I hit an all time record of 50mph on descent. At one point it was pointless to even pedal becuase there was no resistance.  Crazy, but man was it fun!  I wonder what some top speeds were for the day......60-70mph?

One of the course marshals is a friend of mine and was on a motorcycle. He said that the lead motorcycle (a different motorcycle than he was on) had to go 55 mph to stay ahead of the lead cyclist. (He didn't say, but I'm assuming he's talking about DKT.) That's nuts!
