Sunny
Total Time = 2h 29m 15s
Overall Rank = 52/184
Age Group = 45-49
Age Group Rank = 6/20
Pre-race routine:

I got up 3 hours pre race (5:30). Drove one hour. Arrived 1.25 hours pre race.
Normally I arrive 1.5 hours before THE race but not only was I later, there was another event (Girls Tri) prior so they announced transition was closing before I got to the transition area. I set up as the girls were starting to come in. Then I talked with some BTers
Event warmup:

I contemplated this but opted for nada.
Swim
  • 27m 52s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 42s / 100 yards
Comments:

My plan was just to do a good training swim. All went well. It was a very enjoyable swim.
What would you do differently?:

For a training race - it was good as is
Transition 1
  • 01m 33s
Comments:

I planned to take my time here and just take care of myself. Even so, I was still annoyed about difficulty with wetsuit.

I also learned here that my nutrition was safely stored in my car.
What would you do differently?:

Regardless of my race time I need to better prepare for transition
Bike
  • 1h 13m 22s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 20.32 mile/hr
Comments:

Even though it is not my fastest ride it was still too fast for my primary goal of running a fast 10k. My bike computer died last week so I took it off. No watch either.
What would you do differently?:

For today's goal I would have ridden slower. Though that was a unique race goal. Needed GU.
Transition 2
  • 01m 48s
Comments:

Wow what else could go wrong. I was talking to another participantas I came in because she wasn't sure were to dismount. Although I could point it out to her, I failed to prepare for it. I arrived at the dismount line with feet still strapped in. I slowed to a near stop got one foot out realized ther was no time for the second, hit the front break nearly went down got my naked foot over the bike, unclipped the other, pulle dthe shoe off and hobbled in. I then had comfort issues with my Left shoe. I removed and reinserted foot to no avail.
What would you do differently?:

Um use my brain a little
Run
  • 44m 37s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 07m 11s  min/mile
Comments:

My plan was a 40 to 41 min 10k. I was 10% off this. Not having nutrition, riding too hard and foot problems contributed to the debacle. Besides my expected ankle pain, I was slapping my feet and experienced shin pain. I just couldn't get going.
What would you do differently?:

Besides getting some food, I don't think these shoes are right for me.
Post race
Warm down:

none - though I should have done some running

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nutrition, decision making, training, injuries ...

Event comments:

Having the Girls Tri race first was an aggrevation. HFP puts on quality no frills events for the price. My performance in the run was all that mattered and it didn't go well so, it was not a good race for me. It was nice to see the BT crew.

Perspective is a funny thing - your bad race is the one I was hoping to have, hehe

Good seeing ya, and good luck in your next one!
