Hey folks.  I've just recently come back to NM after being away for a number of years, and have yet to do any outdoor swimming.  I'm looking to sign up for the Cochiti tri, but am curious about the water temps.  I hate wearing my wetsuit, but don't want to freeze.  How cold does that lake usually run in late July?  I'm guessing that it'll be hot enough outside to cancel out, but just want to be sure.

Also, what're the bike/run like?  Hilly?

Thanks!

Meg

Welcome back to the Land of Entrapment.  Sorry but I can't help you out with your questions as I haven't done the Cochiti tri yet.  I'm seriously considering it this year though so I'm checking into the thread to follow along.

btw nobody did the tri last year due to the fire.

Meg,

I did some OWS at Cochiti last weekend with no wetsuit. I was in for about an hour with no temperature issues at all - so, if you want to go sans wetsuit, go for it! You'll be fine.

Thanks!  As it turns out, I'm actually only going to be spectating this weekend at Cochiti, but I am glad to hear about the temps nonetheless.  Good luck to those racing this weekend!
