Swim
Comments: The water was freezing. It took a while to get used to the cold water. The swim seemed long to me. Swimming is definitely my weakest discipline, but my time much slower than normal. It could have been from the constant sighting I had to do. What would you do differently?: Try to draft more so I can sight less and get into a groove more. Transition 1
Comments: nothing surprising here, 2 mins is my normal time. Bike
Comments: I'm glad I did the Oly, I can only imagine the hurt the half ironmen were going through with an additional two laps. What would you do differently?: I need to train more hills and start to strength train more. Transition 2
Comments: about 15 seconds off from my normal time. Run
Comments: After an extra three hilly miles on the bike, my legs were pretty thrashed. I started to get a side stitch around mile two and I was pretty close to walking, but I just muscled through it and it subsided after a mile. For the remaining 3 miles, it was just holding on for dear life and putting one foot in front of the other. What would you do differently?: I need to get in more hill training. Post race
Warm down: not much, rehydrated and grabbed a few slices of pizza provided by the race organizers, which was nice and different then other races. Ran into my buddy Mark, who I haven't seen since last season and caught up for a bit. Last updated: 2012-01-03 12:00 AM

love the 10:30am start time. It was almost like I slept in on race day! Got up around 6:30am, grabbed a coffee, pb&j and drove up to the race.
Not much warming up since you couldn't get in the lake pre-race.
