Age Group = 50-54
Age Group Rank = 6/21
Swim
  • 13m 31s
  • 656 yards
  • 02m 04s / 100 yards
Comments:

Swam steady the whole way.
Transition 1
  • 00m 22s
Comments:

One of the top 5 fastest. Nailed it. I RAN through T1. No socks.
Bike
  • 45m 14s
  • 14.7 miles
  • 19.50 mile/hr
Comments:

I was conservative on the bike. I was not fully rested going into this race, so I intentionally "took it easy" on the bike. Regardless, it felt like 3/4ths of the bike was uphill and into a slight headwind. HR data suggests the last 10 minutes was downhill/tailwind.
What would you do differently?:

Next time go harder on the bike, in general, but especially the last 10-15 minutes (3-5 miles).
Transition 2
  • 00m 31s
Comments:

Fastest T2 in age group. In Top 20 fastest overall. No socks.
What would you do differently?:

Lost 2 seconds after I got shoes on, as I wasn't sure which way to go.
Run
  • 22m 16s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 11s  min/mile
Comments:

Age group: 8th swim, 8th bike, 7th run, finished 6th, due to 1st in T1, 1st in T2.

Finished 20 seconds behind 5th, but I didn't know he was up there. He passed me on the bike, so I should have been looking for him. I caught 7th, about 1/2 mile from finish and pushed hard past him.

Ran 1 minute faster than Tri The Parks Tanner, which has a couple of steeper hills, yet lower HR. But I wasn't as rested going into this race.
What would you do differently?:

Learn to recognize my age group competition.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Small blister on heel due to no socks. Next time put Vaseline inside shoe heels.

Event comments:

This was a well run event in a beautiful venue. I recommend this event highly. One of the closest to Atlanta. Free parking.

Man, you were CONSISTENT! Congrats on a really good race! Those transitions rocked! 21 seconds? Are you kidding me?! It must have been the "no socks"!

Wow!
