Comments:

I got right up front for this as I was in wave 4 with the older folks, athenas, and other clydes! As soon as the alarm went off I took off pretty hard trying to separate myself from the pack.

I also wanted to be right in the front to get used to being grabbed and pulled and whacked in preparation for LP.

What would you do differently?:

I think I could have gone a bit harder on it.
Transition 1

Comments:

ugh, this didn't go well! I was out of the transition area in good timing but you can' t mount your bike for about 75 yards...once you get to the road.

I went to do my flying mount and there was no shoe on the left pedal!! It fell off some where on the run to the road and I didn't know where. I layed my bike down in the grass and ran back to get it.

Grabbed the shoe and ran back to the road. Once I got the shoe on I clipped in. But while that was going on a clyde went past me so I was going to have to play catch up on him for the bike and run.
What would you do differently?:

I guess make sure my shoes stay on the bike...

Comments:

Added time for having to go get my shoe...busted my tail to try and make up for it. That clyde that passed me was just enough in front that I couldn't catch him.

Having started in wave 4 with 180 people leaving before me it was a blast riding! I was passing people like they were the white lines on a highway. I almost never was near the white line as I was passing people the whole time.

What would you do differently?:

Probably could have gone just a touch harder on this. May have left a little too much in the tank for the run.
Transition 2
  • 00m 40s
Comments:

I thought this went rather well. I was all the way against the fence so I had about the longest run of anyone in the transition area and still managed a 40 second t2.
What would you do differently?:

My left shoe was too tight and it took a couple extra seconds to get it on. Pay attention to that next time...
Run
  • 22m 7s

Comments:

I was moving right along passing people on the run but this was my last chance to catch that clyde...and I just couldn't do it! He was just enough ahead of me that I couldn't get him.

The trail got a little thin at times which probably added a couple seconds to my overall time as I had to stall passing people.

Post race
Warm down:

Was very happy with the end result, I wanted a goal time of 1:10 and beat that by 3 minutes and taking 11 minutes off of last years time.

Lots of guys from our thursday night training group did very well and it was just a great day for a great race. Lots of pictures that I still have to sort through.

I registered as a clyde this year because I thought I would have a good chance of wining that division. And that guy beat me by :17 seconds! If only that shoe didn't come off...but that's ok!

My second place finish got me a half gallon of Kings Dairy Chocolate Milk! Very cool if you ask me!

I did have the fastest time for my AG even though I wasn't registered for AG. I did later on learn that because of my first place finish in my AG USAT still will give me a slot at the Sprint National Championships in Burlington, VT on August 19th!!! Oh, I'm totally going even if I get destroyed at it...will be quite the experience!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Stupid shoe!

Event comments:

I loved the medals and the chocolate milk for people on the podium!

That was an awesome race,  way to rock it.  You training must be going well if you can pull off times like that.  Keep up the good work.

I must say I was impressed with my own performance.  Is that bad?  Gave me some good confidence for the season and how much training I've put in so far.

stupid shoe...
