Total Time = 3h 03m 45s
Overall Rank = 170/304
Age Group = F30-34
Age Group Rank = 12/19
Pre-race routine:

Normal breakfast, quick drive to race.
Event warmup:

10 minute swim
Swim
  • 28m 48s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 46s / 100 yards
Comments:

Swim was more physical compared to last year. The race started late and they sent the waves off every 90 seconds rather than every 5 minutes. Got kicked by racers switching to breast or sidestroke in the outbound leg. The return leg went well. Water temp was too warm for a full wetsuit.
What would you do differently?:

Starting wide and further forward in the group would have helped me avoid the majority of the contact. I should have paid more attention to other racers and avoided getting kicked.
Transition 1
  • 02m 3s
Comments:

Not bad
What would you do differently?:

Pull my cap and goggles off on the way out of the water.
Bike
  • 1h 30m 57s
  • 24.23 miles
  • 15.98 mile/hr
Comments:

Had mechanical issues on the second lap and nearly went down. Managed to get the brakes and chain situation sorted out and back on course after a few minutes. I handled the situation well and didn't panic.
What would you do differently?:

Not have a mechanical issue ... I am pleased that I stayed calm and dealt with the situation. Probably would have finished the bike several minutes faster without the mechanical issue. It happens.
Transition 2
  • 01m 21s
Comments:

T1 went well
Run
  • 1h 00m 36s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 09m 46s  min/mile
Comments:

I paced the run well for me and managed the hills.
What would you do differently?:

More run training if I want to go faster.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around, got water.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Training.

Event comments:

This is a good local race. Very competitive field. The course is hilly (both bike and run) lots of fun.

Great job, I with my swim was as good as yours, I felt like I lost a lot of time in the water on this one.

Congrats on your race.

Good job working through your bike issue!

It was tough out there in the water with the waves so close together...I was into the first men's wave with guys breaststroking by the time I got to the first buoy and was working my way through that wave the rest of the way.  But the water conditions were great, otherwise, and I enjoyed the swim.

Nice job staying composed while working through your bike issue, I know how frustrating that can be.  Good race!!
