Total Time = 2h 30m 12s
Overall Rank = 192/471
Age Group = F25-29
Age Group Rank = 6/25
Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 6 - was very happy to see the ran had stopped!:) Had half a power bar and a banana. Gather stuff together and headed to transition - got there around 7. Set out everything. Watched the sprint distance athletes do their 750m then headed back to transition to get ready.
Event warmup:

Hopped in the water about 5-10 minutes before race start and did some swimming around- got used to the cold water
Swim
  • 15m 12s
  • 750 meters
  • 02m 02s / 100 meters
Comments:

Didnt feel like I had the greatest swim - Kept swimming crooked, couldnt find anyone to draft off of. I kept veering to my right the whole time - will have to pay attention to my stroke in the pool to figure out why this was happenening. Run to transition included in bike time.
What would you do differently?:

Not sure - maybe not started so far to the right at the beginning - would have been better if I had started a bit more to the left on the beach.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Wore my wetsuit right to my bike this time rather than try to get it off on the grass (I always choose not to use wetsuit strippers as I dont want to lay down and then get back up again!). Sat right on the ground and got my suit off, feet toweled off and socks and shoes on all while seated - it was a nice break. Was a slower transition than usual but mostly because it was cold and I wanted to towel dry my feet.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing probably.
Bike
  • 1h 19m 35s
  • 40 kms
  • 30.16 km/hr
Comments:

Went hard on the bike - I like flats, not hills. Hills were tough. Stayed in big chain ring the whole time due to stubberness - probably should have went to small ring a few times. Did quite a bit of passing and being passed.
What would you do differently?:

Get in more riding - didnt ride much in the last 3 weeks due to weather and my half marathon
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Included in bike time. Yay I remembered to take off my helmet this time.... haha. Was fast in this transition - bike shoes off, runners on - grab nutrition and visor - then gone! Feet felt terrible from being so cold on the bike - felt like I head both my feet stuck in kleenex boxes and was shuffling along liek that.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing - cant do much about have cold feet!
Run
  • 55m 26s
  • 10 kms
  • 05m 32s  min/km
Comments:

I was very sore - mostly my feet and calves - was a little disappointed about this as I would of loved to run a really strong 10K - Im happy with this time though. other than my race in fredericton this is my best run off the bike in an olympic distance race.
What would you do differently?:

Continue what I have been doing this year getting in lots of running!
Post race
Warm down:

Eat chips - cheer on other finishers

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The cold - caused sore feet
Old running shoes - could have also caused the sore feet during the run
- Probably could have had a better bike if I had gotten on my bike more in the past weeks

Event comments:

Well organized race. This is my third year doing it. I really enjoy it.
