Event warmup:

Did a short ride and run with Richard. I didn't end up getting a swim warm up in.
Swim
  • 07m 43s
  • 580 yards
  • 01m 20s / 100 yards
Comments:

Decent swim. For some reason I was veering to the left a bit so I had to correct myself a few times. There was a lot of congestion and I had to pass a lot of people which took some weaving and I wasn't able to draft off anyone.
What would you do differently?:

Swim a little straighter.
Transition 1
  • 02m 10s
Comments:

Good T2. Pushed it a bit on the run up the hill to transition and passed the guy in my AG that beat my in the swim. Used the wetsuit strippers.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 39m 51s
  • 16 miles
  • 24.09 mile/hr
Comments:

I knew Nate was going to catch me on the bike and my goal was to try to hang with him, but I couldn't pull it off. Maybe next year. :)
What would you do differently?:

Not race a punctured rear tire
Transition 2
  • 00m 30s
Comments:

Had a little trouble getting both my shoes on which was odd.
What would you do differently?:

Not struggle getting my shoes on
Run
  • 19m 27s
  • 3.2 miles
  • 06m 05s  min/mile
Comments:

Wasn't thrilled with my run. I was planning to avg at least sub 6/min miles, but it was hot and I did push pretty hard on the bike.
Post race
Warm down:

Had sooo many NEMSers and clients there. I actually had to drive to the store and get some more water and ice with one of the other coordinators. They got a kick out of me at the store because I hadn't changed since the race.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I was battling a very tough cold or allergies for just about the 2 weeks previous to the race. I felt ok out there, but I know that didn't do me any favors.

Great race Colin! Those swim and run time are great! I know the cold/allergies definitely didn't help. Maybe we can help each other get a bit better - me in the swim and you on the bike over the summer. Looking forward to some NEMS training rides/swims/runs as the weather warms.
