What a great day!! Good "meeting" Roland on the first climb. Heard someone (Melissa?) shout BT Chris! But didn't see anyone else. Hit almost all my goals, still some things to work on for next year

Does it any better than today? Great weather and an awesome venue. I even saw ChrisM a couple times. Was going to say but you were busy with the fam or friends post race.

This was my first triathlon and I have a lot to work on but today was a great experience. Had a 30 minute swim which SHOCKED me but went too hard on the bike. Couldn't get my heart rate down on the run (due to bike) and had to settle in on a slow pace. Finished in 5:43 which I'll take but need to start racking the miles on the bike.

Congrats to everyone out there!

Chris - Way to tear it up today.  Nice 20 minute improvement over last year's time.  I'm planning on being back next year, but don't think I'll be anywhere near your speed.

How was the weather this year? Sounded like the winds were good and not as cold as last year.

Once again, congrats on a great race!

I'll try not to be offended by that remark, Chris, because I know you more from outside of BT, but umm twice on the run.  Cool

The weather was fantastic!!!   I beat my last time here by over 10 mins.  I still really need to work on my run though.  Oh well.  I had a great race and In & Out after.  Now I'm supposed to go dye eggs with the nephews (ages 3, 5, 7)  not sure if that is going to happen.  Wink

Oh crap, I saw jamieS too, I shoulda remembered that from the smack talk at the turnaround!!! Sorry man, I guess to me you're more if a local then a BTer. I saw that Cheryl raced, and did well. Did she enjoy it? Glad to see you're back out and at it after the injuries of last year

That really wasn't smack talk, you looked like you needed a boost!  Tongue out  But looking at your times, you really didn't I guess.

And, Cheryl was about 30 seconds in front of you on her first lap (like me) when I was "smack talking" you!  I think you passed her soon after.

I felt great about my swim, bike, and first lap of the run.  That second lap however.... ummm, welllll.  Next Year!  Cool

Andy Potts won in 3:49:50...

Heather Jackson did it in 4:13:48

So guys if you did it in less than 7:39:40

and Gals if you did it in less than 8:27:36

Then you can join my club, I call it Half-Fast Triathletes!

I finished in 7:11:3 This course was WAY WAY  harder then Augusta (I did Augusta in Sep

Thanks, definitely get back in next year! Weather really could not have been better. Slight overcast at the start, broke by the time we got on the bike, sunny throughout but not too warm and light winds. Worst part was the left turn onto basilone the wind picked up a bit right into the leg killing rollers. Vandergrift was not bad at all though. Few downwind sections of the run got toasty but nice headwind the other way

Hi,

My name is Dale.

I'm a photographer from Oceanside. I was taking photos of the run at the 3 mile mark.

I took photos of your 2 laps, so you need to look for yourself more then once.

I stopped taking photos at 1:30pm,

If you would like to check them out go to our website 1DKPIX.COM  or  http://drhphotos.photostockplus.com

A bunch of BT people said hi to me.... I tried to say something coherent back... and mostly failed...

I'm  bit hard of hearing and  was not wearing my hearing aids so remembering ID's heard once

was beyond what I could do under the conditions....

In any case it was always a pick up to hear from other BTers.

I put the bike number on my seat post, one side left adhesive all over the post, the other side tore off a big chunk of the post "coating" along with some of the "cervelo" sticker.  Anybody else have this?  Is this because of the adhesive of the sticker or the weakening of the coating over time?  Kind of pisses me off, glad I didn't put it anywhere else on the bike.

Same kind of race for me as usual, good swim and bike, bad run, right knee bothered me a lot.  Beat last year's time by 5 minutes, that's a positive I guess.

Congrats to everyone who was out there this weekend.  We could not have asked for better weather overall.  Race report coming soon, but reading everyone's comments it sounds like there were no major catastrophes amongst the BTers.  Personally, I was riding a new Valdora and my Adamo seat kept tilting back, so I had to stop to adjust it once, then slide it forward and ride on the nose for about 45 miles.  Not as comfortable as I would like, but I cannot say it ruined my day.  Just under 5:45 total time, which was my time last year, so I am consistent, but not 'better.'

I was the Major Catastrophe amongst BTers. I knew I was in over my head a few weeks back after my training got derailed when my back went out. Also, I just didn't ride enough hills. I was the one walking up the hills on the bike. Then when i got to mile 3 (about) on the run, I started cramping and my toes curledevery time I tried to jog. I finished in 9 hours and it being my first, I am just glad to have finished. My goal was closer to 8 and I am sure that if I could have jogged, I would have done better. I am just disappointed that when I crossed the finish line, I had lots of energy still to give but not the legs under me.
I am taking this race as a huge learning experience and looking forward to training harder and doing better next year!! I can only go up from here!!

You are NOT a major castastrophe, You are an 1/2 Ironman finisher.  BE PROUD!  It is not an easy task. During this race, I too was hurting and wanted to quit but I didnt and finished.  You live and learn and next year, you will do a helluva lot better.  Congrats on your finish.
