Very Cool Medal... Was that for your first place finish?   You did an awesome job on that race.

The one thing I appreciated was that having us 40 + and Athena women in Wave 5, a whole bunch of faster, younger men didn't pass us on the swim.

It was a fun day - I'm looking forward to next year.

I didn't even realize we hadn't gotten medals for finishing that race until I was on the drive home.  The logo on the tech shirt was more muted and when my husband wanted to add the logo as an opening of the video he did of me, he had to scan the sticker they gave us in the race packets.

that's very similar to the finisher medals they gave out at the Stayton Sprint Tri in Stayton, OR last month. Very cool. One of my favorites!

This was from the Turtle Crawl Olympic Triathlon on Jekyll Island, Georgia. I won my age group. The pic doesn't really do it justice but it is handmade glass.

Both of those medals are really nice!

Personally i'm not hard to please; I like anything that's not the standard cheap circular "place race sticker here" that so many races hand out.

That and the tee shirts.  Please don't waste my entry fee purchasing a plain white cotton tee with the race name in block letters and a bunch of sponsors.  I won't wear it.

edit: here's one of my favorites.  not necessarily because of the medal, but because it reminds me of a really fun and memorable race.

My Las Vegas Rock N Roll Half Marathon medal glows in the dark! Probably because it's taken place at night...gee, who thought of that idea?  The silly thing is the "Stratosphere" is in the shape of the Seattle Space Needle...*groan*   It's also the heaviest medal I have - 5.4 oz. That's like 4 or so medals combined.  I do wish the ribbon was better...it's cheap, thin vs. wide.

Other than that, all the medals are "nice", but not as cool as this one.

The individual medal isn't entirely noteworthy:

But when you put 5 years' worth of them together, it forms a Texas Star (Race is in Ft. Worth)
I have one more year to go

Oh, I love that! Even the standalone medal is attractive, too. Love the 2012 ribbon.

A few races do belt buckles as medals which is neat, if you wear belt buckles.

The 2011 IMC medal was messed up and made too small. So they cut some plastic backing and glued it to the back. It's one of the cheapest looking medals I've ever seen.

My favorite medal is still one of my first! Pacific Shoreline Marathon 2004. Surf City USA, Full Surfboard with the fin on the back! Liked the Rev 3 South Carolina Hot Air Balloon too.

Not my medal (my wife's) and not a tri, but I did take the picture.  Disney runs seem to have cool medals.  The spinner in the middle is Tink.

LOL, didn't mean as a back door brag..  But thanks     He has never done finishers medals.  Thought the shirts were pretty good this year

There's lots of cool medals out there.  Lisa's TX medals are a fantastic idea...  Keep em coming.  We hear a lot of complaints about bad medals/shirts.   Good to hear about the good ones.

My daughter and I did the Disney Princess HM last Feb.  I never keep the medals they hand out at these things, but this one is special.

I don't know how to post pictures, but my two favourites are:
1) My Nike Womens Marathon necklace (in lieu of medals, each finisher gets a Tiffany necklace - I'm not a huge jewellery person, but I love wearing this one as a reminder that I am capable of anything I put my mind to).
2) My Army Run medals - they are shaped like dog tags.

The Texas star collection is way cool...what a great idea!

This is my first year of triathlon so don't have much of a collection but got this at my first (and only to date) tri...hopefully the pic loads.

Nice thread! I have had a few I liked better but none with pictures uploaded.  I was surprised how much I liked this year's 70.3 Texas medal...i thought the oil platform was really cool and lots of imagination for a WTC race

I got 4th place once.  The other is from the "King of the Mountain" ride in Big Bear during the Tour of California.

Crap, that's the coolest medal I've ever seen.  Now I have to go run five ultramarathons.
