Total Time = 1h 17m 13s
Overall Rank = 49/466
Age Group = M25-29
Age Group Rank = 2/17
Pre-race routine:

The usual stuff. I got my bag and car packed last night. got up at 5:30 am at my breakfast and headed out to excelsior. Got my racking spot set up and used the bathroom. At that time was rushed out of transition to the pre-race meeting.
Event warmup:

I went into the water to start practice and was told they were going to start so it got cut short.
Swim
  • 13m 54s
  • 880 yards
  • 01m 35s / 100 yards
Comments:

The swim went very well. The water caught me off guard with how cool it was, but once i was at 200m out It wore off. I spotted and round the buoys without a problem. The only thing that went wrong was getting kicked in the face the last 200m.
Transition 1
  • 01m 34s
Comments:

I wasn't really focused going into transition, but found my bike without a problem. My suit got caught on my heel, not as bad as last week but enough to eat seconds away. But I was happy with how the transition went!
Bike
  • 38m 53s
  • 15 miles
  • 23.15 mile/hr
Comments:

I was worried to go full out on my race wheels. Since never used the in the rain I didn't know how they would corner/ brake. I felt toward the coming back was a lot faster of a pace knowing my gear in the rain.
Transition 2
  • 00m 47s
Comments:

Nothing bad went on there, keeps getting faster and faster T2 times.
Run
  • 22m 7s
  • 3 miles
  • 07m 22s  min/mile
Comments:

This is went the rain picked up. I was a bit sore going onto the run, by the turn around the pain dissipated and I felt like picking up the pace. I felt like I put my best I had this morning on the run course and was happy with my performance.
Post race
Warm down:

I walked around, Packed up my gear, and had some snacks. My hip started to tense up and tried to keep it lose. I just walked around and waited for the awards to begin.

Event comments:

It was a good race minus the weather, but that is out of everyone's hands.

Nice job! Super fast bike!  Yeah, they really rushed things in the morning. I was really surprised to see the first wave go so early, I would have felt quite panicked personally.

Congrats on the age group podium!! That's a stellar bike split in wet conditions. I, too, would have been very tentative with new wheels. Hope your trophy is as big as Emily's!
