Has anyone ever done or heard about the race?  It looks like it would be "fun" in a sick way along with good training if I decide on a 50 mile race in Feb.  I have only wanted to run since IMTX so I think I will punish myself with some serious running.

I did it this year.  It is sick fun.  The course is flat and 4 loops which can be a beating but is good mental training for Ultra Marathons.  Not sure I will do the double marathon next year but I may do the double half.

Is it well supported?

How about lodging in the area?  I guess it will have plenty of places to stay being north suburb, right?

I did the double marathon last year. The race is fabulous! Well-supported, lots of great energy. I'd highly recommend it.

My wife and I are in - she's running the full on NYE and I'm doing the full on NYD.  Should be fun and it's in our backyard!

My wife did one day of it last year, well supported but the course can get old doing 4 laps. Not technically a "double" but "back to back" marathons I think. You could also have done some other combination of half marathon or 5k but I think the shorter distances are full for both days.

By the way, I wanted to mention that if I were coming from out of town, I'd probably check these places out (in this order):

  1. Courtyard Dallas-Allen at John Hammons Center - right in the middle of a huge commercial development area (Villages of Allen-Fairview) with everything under the sun within 5 -10 min walk.
  2. Hampton Inn & Suites (Stacy Rd & 75) - a little older than the previous spot, but in the same general vicinity (other side of 75).
  3. Holiday Inn Express (75 and McDermott) - located very close to another shopping center with lots of choices for food very close, just not as big and varied as the Stacy Rd location.
  4. Hilton Garden Inn (75 and Bethany) - located across 75 from Watters Creek, another great commercial area with lots of places to shop and dine.

Hope that helps a few of you out-of-town folks.
