Sunny
Total Time = 1h 35m 33s
Overall Rank = 247/345
Age Group = 55-59
Age Group Rank = 12/20
Pre-race routine:

hit it hard last three weeks, doing r-b-s at tri length each week combined with long rides. rested two days before event.
Event warmup:

none
Swim
  • 23m 20s
  • 1094 yards
  • 02m 08s / 100 yards
Comments:

It was in-water start. As I jumped off bulkhead, my goggles came off, disappeared. Stupidly I dove looking for them , got winded before rqace started. Settled in after about 100 strokes. Swim went okay without them. Typical mass start: be strong, be calm.
What would you do differently?:

Hold on to my goggles.
Been doing about 400 strokes in ocean as workout, need to increase the distance and start sprint/ interval workouts.
Transition 1
  • 03m 20s
Comments:

Put wrong socks in bag; had calf high, took too long to get on, other wise okay.
What would you do differently?:

make sure socks are ankle length.
Bike
  • 39m 33s
  • 20 kms
  • 30.34 km/hr
Comments:

I was pleased with bike. 30k/ is good level for me. Need more work in big gears.
What would you do differently?:

do my intervals and sprints in training. Need to have greater effort, work on steady HR up to 160. Train greater effort in big gears.
Transition 2
  • 01m 35s
Comments:

about as fast as I can go in huge transition field
Run
  • 27m 8s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 43s  min/mile
Comments:

Im sooo slow. Still not getting good hip roll and when tired the stride shortens. Not too satisfied, too much plodding.
What would you do differently?:

I dont do any run work but plain mileage. Force myself onto track occasionally and do regular intervals each week.
Post race
Warm down:

wander around

What limited your ability to perform faster:

at 200, still caryying about 15 lbs too many for frame. plan to have that fixed before Sept Oct tri's.

Event comments:

Betty and gang do a great job.I recommend race to anybody wanting a flat course sort fo early in season.
