Subject: RE: Garrett Co Gran Fondo - any BTers going? DTugan - 2012-06-21 9:47 PM Colin, this is my first Gran Fondo at DLC, and I thought that having 125 miles and 16,500 ft (!!!) two weeks after my Eagleman is not very sane. I will look for the orange/red triple bypass jersey and then will wait for your reportl ... Good to bump into you at the start Alexei! Hope your day went well. The Diabolical Double was every bit as epic as promised. RR is posted. That was my longest day in the saddle ever. And my slowest average speed ever. The climbs were simply relentless. And beautiful. Kyle Yost and his team puts on an amazing event, and the folks of Garrett County were so welcoming. I had no idea about this far flung corner of Maryland, and I'm looking forward to returning. Thanks to Felton for the Catoctin training route -- the terrain is very good preparation for GCGF. And thanks to the MD BTers who planted the idea of doing this event. It has more than doubled in size in each of the last 2 years, and I'm sure that it'll soon be the kind of thing that sells out rapidly. |
