Subject: Pros restricted to WTC or non-WTC events?

I have often been curious how the pros pick out their race schedule. One thing I noticed is when I look at the winners at non-WTC events they generally don't do many or any Ironman branded events. Is there any sort of restriction that if I were a pro in a given season if I do an Ironman branded event I can't do another competitor event, such as Rev3?

I realize someone like Lance probably signed an exclusive deal with WTC, but what about the average pro, are there any restrictions on what events one could do? Doesn't impact me at all, I was just curious how this works.

They can do whatever events they want (even LA).  WTC now has a points system to qualify for the Kona WC, so pros who want to race there are forced into doing more of their other races.

Actually Lance's issue right now is that he can exclusively only do non-wtc events!
