I plan on doing it.

You should do it! I heard it's an extremely fast course with the downhill swim and mainly flat (I think) roads. I'll be there wearing a black National Guard headband.

I have a 5K Wed in Edgewood and I figured lets see how I do there.  Running in my neighborhood is one thing, actual race might be another.  Have another week or so after that I think to make up my mind (and to come up with the entry fee).  Last time I went swimming was last year.  I was in a pool 24 ft pool that was only 5 ft deep and it was just to clean it.

I'm not looking forward to the swim either. It's definitely not my strongest event by a long shot...

Bummed I missed the 5k. Edgewood is just down the street from me. I'm off of Turkeyfoot. Hope all went well.

For me, new PR for a 5k and a mile.  It was a good day for me at least. Laughing  Somewhere around 700 raced today.  Since this was my first one, I figured it helped that at least I knew where I was at.  Grew up in Villa Hills and friends/fam in Edgewood.  Made it a little bit easier to know how much farther from point to point.  I went to Turkeyfoot if that counts. I def had enough in the tank to do at least 4 miles today.  From St Pius on I really pushed myself.  I crushed my 1 mile PR by 48 seconds and 5k PR by 3 mins 4 secs.  Im not sure how well I would have done if you tossed 12 miles on the bike into that 4 mile jog.  Esp since my bike isnt made for speed.

I figured going and watching will be the best thing for me right now.  See how folks transition from swim to bike, bike to run.  5k was easy, show up and go.  Cross finish line and go home. lol

I have done this several times. The swim is going with the current. The bike is deceptively hard. Long false flats , about 18% grade at 2oo yards in the begining. , the run is fairly flat to rolling.

Freew67: I was a st. henry hs grad myself. Congrats on the new PR! You really killed it. I wish I would have known about this race ha

It's cool seeing a few BT'ers showing interest in going and watching.. making me that much more pumped to do this one as my first.

Dixie grad here.  Last race I went to was a Nascar race at Kentucky Speedway, so this will be a very dif exp for me.  Im just waiting to find out if the wife works Sat night.  She works 3rd shift, 1 car fam, and Im Mr Mom with 2 little boys.  For some reason I dont see my 3 or 2 yr old sitting for that long.

Went to look at road bikes today, shame this tri wasnt next month or I might have done it.  I decided my gift to myself for loosing 100lbs will be a road bike.  I have only .8 lbs to go.  Now I just have to run that idea by the wife.  lol

The nascar race this year at the speedway? Haha how was the weather...

It's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission. Or just show her some $1500 bike you "really want", but not really. That way the $1000 looks a whole lot better in her eyes. Too easy.

Did my first brick run after having shin splints for a couple weeks. Felt like I was crawling, but busted out a 6:10 avg min/mile for a 5k after telling myself to go on an easy run.. I'll take it!

TBH the heat was fine for me.  I had garage passes and we hung out in the Competitors Lounge that has AC.  It also has a TV so we watch part of the race from in there.    6:10 would be a solid 1/2 mile time for me. I just ran 5 miles nonstop for the first time today.  I still fall under the NOOB label.

Two more days... Get pumped!! If anyone else is going, I'll be in a black short sleeve compression top and either blue or black spandex shorts. Black Army National Guard headband on the run. Hopefully an ACU pattern bike helmet...lol

The swim is going to absolutely KILL me.

Thanks!!! As predicted, the swim killed me.. Then I hauled butt on the bike and made up a TON of time, passing a good amount of people. Since I went so hard on the bike, I couldn't quite keep the run pace that I wanted, but it was still enough to catch a few more people. BUT. No one was at the turn around on the Purple People Bridge when I got there, and the gap between me and the next runner was big enough to where I didn't see where they turned around. So I kept going on past it.... My family said I was 10th on the bridge.... then after I got back onto the course, I finished 21st... AH I'm a moron. Oh well. It sucks, but oh well. It was my first triathlon, so I'm using it mainly as a learning experience rather than worrying about my overall time. But still. Could have been top 10..

Already looking for the next race!

There are plenty sooner, just depends on how far you want to travel.

... and DOH!  Live and learn.  I wouldnt expect anything out of my first one.  Just finish without making myself look like a total fool.
