Planning on using SOMA as my IMAZ tune-up race, and I love racing it!

That's exactly what I'm doing...what does the rest of your race schedule look like? I'm doing the Mountain Man OLY (AUG), Urban Dirt Tri (Oct) and then Soma & IMAZ...I'm thinking about throwing Nathan's in there in Sept., but I hear it's a brutally hot race.

Might do Mountain Man, mainly just concentrating on IMAZ this year. Nathans can definitely be a hot one, at that point in the year I'll probably be sweating it out somewhere on my bike!

Hi friends,

Nutrition question for you all. this will be my first half ironman! Super excited and nervous all at the same time.

Anyhow, I digress.

On the bike portion of the tri, I'm going to need more fluid then what I can carry on my bike. How do you guys handle this... ask the people at the water stops to fill up you're bottles?

Sorry to ask what is probably quite a simple question, I just have no idea.

Thanks everyone!

Aaron

You can do it that way, (Stop and have them filled) but what I would do is invest in some "throw away" bottles and when the time comes, throw the bottles away and grab some of the bottles that they're handing out at the aid stations. Usually the bottles they're giving out are the right size to fit in your water bottle cages...If it's anything like a WTC event, they'll cover that in the race guide and/or race meeting.

Happy training...

Getting close now, Soma will be here in a few weeks and it seems like it will be a hot one. I keep waiting for temps  to go down and they did in the morning but the half marathon portion will be in nineties for sure.

Oh well, it's been warm for 6 months.  Still betting it'll be a good time!

Did you guys receive any emails from the race organization?  Seems weird that I never got one of those "hey, don't forget about the race, here's some info" emails.  Pretty sure I remembered to actually sign up for the race before putting it on my calendar.
