How are the T1 and T2 bags?  Nice and sturdy?  Big enough for all your stuff (wetsuit)?

Got a water bottle, a velcro timing chip holder, a grey B2B t shirt and thats about it. oh and a key chain also. The bags dont look that big, platic with a drawstring on them. Looks like they are very siminlar to other events. My wetsuit will take up the majority of one. I hope I dont rip it trying to stuff it in there in a hurry....

Thanks for the reply.  Cheap transition bags are one of the most common complaints I hear about this race.  The IM brand T1 and T2 bags are nice and sturdy (thick plastic) and plenty big, but I've never had to stuff a wetsuit in one.

this one looks about the size of two walmart plastic bags side by side, theres no way I can fit a wetsuit and a pair of extra shoes to wear from the swim exit to T1 so I dont kill my feet. I guess thats why they highly recommend you put your name on the wetsuit.....

Just picked mu stuff up.

Bags look pretty sturdy, but are small. I just shoved my wettie into it and it fit easy enough. Not much room after you get a wettie, goggles and cap into the bag.

I thought your screenname was MANDOWN? If you wear shoes from the swim exit to T1 you need to turn in your mancard, just like d00d if he wears booties on the swim Tongue out Seriously though, unless you have very tender feet it is only a couple hundred yards to run and it is regular pavement...its not gravel or anything. You will be fine.

No booties for this d00d...

Man, didn't think we'd have to shove our "wetties" in the bag! Not that big a deal, other than the 5 seconds you'll waste doing that...

Do you just leave it there at your area and they pick up up after you leave?

Mandown, I'll look the other way if you "mandown" Louskie's bike in T1 on race morning.

Packing up and leaving early...hope to make the noon brief. We'll see...

Race time!

Yep you put your suit, goggles and in mandown's case shoes into the T1 bag and make sure you tie it closed. You leave it at your bike rack and they go around and pick em up and take them to the convention center where you pick it up post race.

Help me with logistics...Should I roll into town and go straight to packet pick up with my bike on the back of my car and then over to T1 or should I put the bike in the hotel room (wrightsville) and then drive over to packet pick up, then go and pick up bike  and bring it to T1? Also, do we bring our post race clothes and t2 bag with us into packet pick up and hand it over? Lastly, is it easier to just leave my clothes with a friend who is going to meet me at the finish or give clothes to race crew in a bag? I figured I had to walk to the convention center anyways to change either way.

Head straight to packet pick up with bike on car. If you know that you don't need to fiddle with bike you can then drop it in T1 once you leave packet pick up and head to your hotel/house. You have to pass T1 to get to where you are staying at Wrightsville

You need to drop your T2 (bike to run) bag at the convention center by 6pm tonight (Friday). You will get the bag at packet pick up. All I have in mine (I am only doing the HIM) is my race number attached to race belt and shoes, so it is easy enough to put it togther when you are down there and leave it.

I think it is easier to leave post race stuff with a friend as opposed to leaving it in a bag. In the past that bag had to make its way from T1 to the battleship so could take time. This year it should be there waiting and there will be place to change so it is .most probably 6 of 1 or half dozen of the other

Good Luck and enjoy what looks to be a awesome day.

Agenda item before I drop off the bike is shaving my head. Thanks for the reminder.

We're staying in a fantastic beach house with a pool, but I am telling the kids that today is the day I rest. Getting very antsy. This is my second HIM attempt. Made it 66.5 into Eagleman before melting down entirely. This is my 2012 cap-off. I can't even use my bottle opener or unwrap the tshirt yet. Too many bad things have happened this year, I'm superstitious. I won't feel like I'm on vacation until late tomorrow. Finish or not, I'm with family and friends, so it will all be good.

Today is a great day to rest!  I have been following your story (hope that doesn't make me too creepy!)  and am really pulling for you tomorrow!  Good luck and I know we will rock it!!  I know what you mean about using the stuff.  I wanted a t-shirt at the expo but refused to buy one that says finisher on it until tomorrow.  I told my husband to have his wallet at the finish line!!  You can get one there too!!!

Good luck and have fun to everyone racing tomorrow.  The athlete meeting today made me super excited and I can't wait for morning!!

How did everyone's day go??  I just got back from the finish line cheering on some of the full finishers.  It was inspiring!

Today for me was an awesome day!!  The weather was perfect ( I even got some sunburn), my race was perfect, and I finished second place Athena and got a really cool plaque!  I couldn't ask for anything better!

I hope everyone had a safe day and accomplished what you planned!

My day was great until the run. I got a 26 min swim, 2:55 bike and I was running 7:30 miles until I took a wrong turn. I did the triangle through the neighborhood and I saw a sign that pointed to the right and said "finish" and the volunteer pointed in that direction. I was in the zone and kept on trucking. I didnt' see any mile signs except for Mile 10 and I asked volunteers at aid stations what mile I was on and they said "I have no clue". I also heard other runners ask the same question because there weren't mile markers at every mile. I finished with a time of 4:40 and knew that was way to good. When the run results came back it listed me with a time of 1:07. I knew right then and there that I took a wrong turn on the course. I think I missed 3-4 miles. It sucks because I was having the run of my life and probably would've finished around 5:10ish.

This was my first half, i finished but it was tough. i know what your talking about on the triangle it was very confusing. it screwed a few people up. didnt know if you had to do it once or twice or what, i did it twice and my garmen was showing 13 miles while i was on front street still, i havent downloaded it to get the final mileage but im not gonna be happy if i ran more than i was suppose to, how about that wrech on the 140 overpass, i went by there and some guy was laying on the pavement and another guy was holding his head still for im, and afew more where the side of the road bleeding what a mess. Saw a alot of drafting going on, one grop got caught and the lady n the motorcycle was writing numbers down as fast as she could go....

The cones on 40 screwed me up a few times. The people in front of me semi blocked my view and then all of a sudden a cone would pop up to the right almost clipping my handlebar. It also stunk getting stuck behind a slow person and the people you passed are now passing you and you can't get back over to the left to pass:0

I had a bad day, I fell apart in the run. Had a lot going against me, Augusta 70.3 three week ago, husband just deployed 3 weeks ago, stressful week with finals at school, just getting over an upper respiratory illness, swallow a lot of water in the swim and from that was really dehydrated in the run. It was a fight to finish, but I finished and it wasn't pretty. Congrats to all finishers!

Not my best race- missed the turn on the bike so had to backtrack and ended out riding 59.5 miles. Things had been going well luntil then, so that cost me about 10 mins and a bout 13 places in my AG! Also had a rough run with a very painful knee and general tiredness. Did have some good company though with qrkid who waited 15 mins in t2 for me wondering what the heck was taking me so long on the bike (I was ahead of him on the swim and he never "passed" me on the bike because I was doing my little extra stretch of the bike course before turning around, so when he saw my t2 bag hanging there he was a little confused since he was now ahead of me). Met dOOd and japarker, which was cool. Got to hang out with dOOd and his awesome family on the beach after the race. Both of our wives were very amused that we had only ever met online before.
