Total Time = 1h 16m 58s
Overall Rank = 69/245
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 13/28
Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 3:50am(yes this is not a typo folks)because I couldnt sleep, and had my pb&j bagel and gatorade. I woke up my wife and kids, and we headed off to pickup Maxmattmick. We arrived about 6:30 and got our packets after waiting in line for 10min.
Event warmup:

Nothing much besides getting in the water to check out the temp.
Swim
  • 12m 47s
  • 440 yards
  • 02m 55s / 100 yards
Comments:

I took it very easy due to the fact that my shoulder is not 100% yet. I swam freestyle out to the first buoy, the breaststroke the remainder. My shoulder actually did not hurt(surprising to me), but I did not want to screw up the rehab this early in the year. Overall I came out of the water in 8;42 minutes, well ahead of what I thought I would do(11min)
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Transition 1
  • 01m 21s
Comments:

I am getting much better at T1. I even ran from the water to the transition area(100yds?)because I had a lot left in the tank.
Bike
  • 43m 1s
  • 15.2 miles
  • 21.20 mile/hr
Comments:

I was very happy with my mounting of the bike, and getting aero and up to speed very quickly. I tried to maintain 22mph for most of the ride, but most of the course had a decent headwind. I actually passed a lot of people, instead of being passed. I was very happy with my effort.
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Transition 2
  • 01m
Comments:

This was probably my fastest transition to date thanks to my wife and kids cheering me on.
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Run
  • 22m 58s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 25s  min/mile
Comments:

This is probably the best/strongest I have felt coming off the bike in 5 years. I pushed pretty hard, but felt good. I knew I was doing well at the first mile because my split was 7:39! I was psyched because I was under 8min. i knew at this point I would crush my time from last year. At the last mile I picked up a bit, and the sidestitch wasn't too bad at the last mile. I actually passed more people instead of being passed as usual.
What would you do differently?:

nada
Post race
Warm down:

nada. Greg and I walked over to get some food.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Minor injury to my shoulder. But overall, I only was 2 minutes slower in the swim than last year.

Event comments:

Overall, this is a great place to do a race. Maxmattmick and I even met Laurensue02. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, I finally broke my 8min/mile barrier on the run, and surpassed my goal of a 7:35min/mile!!

I know this sounds slow but it included the run from the water to the transition area(maybe 100yds) and the transition time#1. I started at the back due to my shoulder injury because I assumed I would be very slow.

Awesome job Bryan!  You've really picked it up a notch (or two) on the run this year.  And the bike looks really good too!  Can't wait to see how you do once your shoulder is back to normal.

Congrats!

Awesome race, man!  That's a strong bike split and a smokin' run.  Very impressive.  Congrats on such a great race and knocking out one of your personal goals!

Now, I just have to be able to run that fast again throughout the season.  Last year, my first tri was my fastest run split!
