Set Up Events
80F / 27C
Sunny
Total Time = 1h 16m 21s
Overall Rank = 26/63
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 7/11
Pre-race routine:

Arrived the day before to take my daughter to the beach. Left the hotel around 6:30 to arrive by 7 and pick up my packet.

Had a bar and a banana and black coffee.
Event warmup:

Did several laps in the pool, but that was about it.
Swim
  • 06m 23s
  • 328 yards
  • 01m 57s / 100 yards
Comments:

I feel bad that I held one guy up for a length, but I didn't realize til too late that he was on my heels. I let him pass at the next wall.
What would you do differently?:

I am fairly happy with my swim given the time I'm able to commit to training in the pool.
Transition 1
  • 01m 4s
Comments:

Probably one of my best T1s to date, even if I did end up with little rocks in my cycling shoes. The route to T1 from the pool and the whole transition area had not been swept at all. It was painful moving through here with bare feet.
What would you do differently?:

Make sure my pedals are in a good position. I had a terrible time mounting.
Bike
  • 40m 47s
  • 11.5 miles
  • 16.92 mile/hr
Comments:

One of the first turns took me by surprise and I almost fell, but I was okay after that on the turns, if not a little too conservative.
I was really hoping I would be strong in this race since it's flat and I never get to ride flat. But I was strictly average.
What would you do differently?:

Practice mounting more quickly. The bike in general continues to be my weak point. More miles, more harder.
Not forget my garmin.
Transition 2
  • 00m 53s
Comments:

Satisfied
Run
  • 27m 15s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 46s  min/mile
Comments:

Not my best, not my worst.
What would you do differently?:

Not forget my Garmin.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Need more miles on the bike.

Event comments:

The atmosphere was rather ho-hum, but it was a very smoothly run event. I do wish they had swept transition.
