the fruit world. More addicting than pistachios. Dare I say better than Pop Tarts? I wish I could buy these year round!

mdg, dang!  We are on the same mental wavelength!  I was going to start a thread tonight on cherries.  I looooove cherries!  I was going to ask in my thread if anyone here at COJ grows their own.  While I do love cherries, I will reserve the label, "the crack cocaine of" for the ultimate in cherry goodness...the MARASCHINO CHERRY!  Somewhere in heaven, there are maraschino cherry trees!

I made some cherry-infused bourbon. It's pretty good. Going to start experimenting with it in some cocktails.

Yes they are sweet and awesome. Around here this time of year most of the local growers set up stands and sell them for far cheaper than you get them from a grocery store. There's probably 6 stands within 5 miles of my house right now.

Just bought a big bag of cherries - I don't think Tony will end up getting any as I'll most likely finish them off by the end of the day.  I somehow don't feel bad about that at all!

Note to self ; 1.5 lbs of cherries in an afternoon is a tad excessive Foot in mouth

Just curious how much they sell for up there. We get soaked for 7.98/lb. the first week they come out. Now they're down to 5.98/lb and will eventually get to about 4/lb. Plus I'm sure the ones you can get locally are even better tasting!

Going for about $1/lb. up here. Although, they are just starting to pick the early crop.

Once the cherry trees at my Alma Matter ripen up, i usually head there and pick some for good eating. One of my co-workers also has family that are cherry farmers so she brings in large buckets of them throughout the summer...

My strawberries just started turning red and I can't wait for the plums to start to ripen

don't ever watch the explanation of how they are made...i caught it on the food network once (the show mark sommers hosts?) and they...are not food anymore.

You mean a jar of those doesn't equal 3 healthy servings of fruit for me and my family?

You're still good to go as long is you dump that jar on top of a pint of ice cream. Add nuts to further increase the "healthy" factor.

The rainier's are 4.99 a bag and the dark sweets are 2.99 but I can't say that is what everyone is paying for them because I shop the commissary which is typically cheaper than civvy stores.

I want to say i am glad to see so many people eating them, they have turned into a super food for me as far as snacking goes. 11 down 89 to go!
