Av8rTx - 2012-07-06 12:33 PM Nice Sketchup model BTW. Did you see if there were models of bicycle wheels to import and use. Yours has a Romanesque-chariot feel to it

I should have done more homework prior to the build.  Originally I thought about Cannondale lefty hubs or tricycle's hub.  Neither is ideal.  End up using sport wheel chair / hand cycle hub instead.    Yeah I feel like its a chariot as well..  Indeed I am thinking about calling it Chariot

I was referring specifically to the Sketchup rendering, you can import some things from the 3dwarehouse like this:

http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=4fcc3b1dfb43057704e9838e5b15da1&prevstart=0

Save yourself the tedious process of "reinventing the wheel' so to speak

ha! pretty cool!  I should do that instead of "reinventing the wheel"

I keep that in mind next time...

Finally completed and on the road.

Dissembled:

In car seat configuration:

Load testing lol!

In Storage:

With real passenger inside!

Don't have any pic in action yet, not comfortable enough to leave the babies in the stroller unattended.  will have some when I got my wife's camera up.

My impression, its smooth as silk, turning is easier then I expected.  but it still seems a bit loose (mostly the rear shaft and the handle bar), could have use some alignment.  And assemble disassemble takes 3 minutes!

My twins are 1 year old now, and something like this would be amazing. You've done an exceptional job and the little ones are lucky to have a father who would put so much effort and passion into something as well as caring enough to share their own passion with their little ones.

Congratulations on your exciting (and terrifying) news.  I'm sure you'll be a phenominal father.

What are you going to do when they grow out of those seats in about 9 months?

Thanks!   When I start this project, I just wish to do something for the kids before they come out.

PM me when you start on version 2.  I have several old wheelsets around with quick release wheelchair hubs.  I can save you some money.

As they get a bit older and are able to move around, you have to figure out a way to protect them from the wheels.  If they put their hands in the spokes it would be pretty bad.  Even though it would be really long, a tandem type set up with the rear wheels behind the seats, and the front wheel well in front of the seat would keep them away from spinning spokes. Maybe make a fairing to cover the wheels or wall off the cockpit area.
