Total Time = 3h 23m 7s
Overall Rank = 980/1153
Age Group = M25-29
Age Group Rank = 666/
Pre-race routine:

Woke up, had eggs, a piece of toast, and some OJ. Drank coffee on the way up to the res. In the res, I held off on getting my transition area started just due to the rain.
Event warmup:

two loops around the swim beach. I may have hopped in too early, as I was somewhat cold
Swim
  • 31m 49s
  • 1500 meters
  • 02m 07s / 100 meters
Comments:

It was a pretty good swim, overall. Thought I would be one of the quicker ones in my wave; turns out the kids are pretty good at swimming. :-)
What would you do differently?:

Potentially start further back, allowing myself to get free?
Transition 1
  • 03m 14s
Comments:

T1 was what it was. I dialed it back a bit, took the extra time to hydrate with some Gatorade, and catch my breath.
What would you do differently?:

I need to learn how to clip my shoes on my pedals and jump on. Maybe some practice. We'll see
Bike
  • 1h 35m 57s
  • 26.1 miles
  • 16.32 mile/hr
Comments:

STAGE. UGH. The first miles were just to get my legs under me, then I hit stage. Made it up Stage somehow, then bombed the rest of the course pretty much.
What would you do differently?:

I gotta figure out something with my quads, have no idea why they are locking up
Transition 2
  • 03m 29s
Comments:

T2 again was what it was.
What would you do differently?:

dunno.
Run
  • 1h 09m 28s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 11m 11s  min/mile
Comments:

Well, I did it. The first 2 miles were pretty good, but then I started struggling. The fatigue of the bike finally caught up to me.
What would you do differently?:

I definitely felt the lack of run training on that run.
Post race
Warm down:

walked around, talked to some people, and ate some crappy food.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

again, training. Humidity might have been a factor.

Got into a groove pretty much instantly. Couldn't ever really get free into my own place. The swimmers were pretty quick today. I got whacked in the lip on the back half, and am still fat lipped because of it.
