Age Group Rank = 17/26
Pre-race routine:

Coffee and hung out with my sister who was also racing.
Event warmup:

Nothing.
Swim
  • 06m 20s
  • 325 yards
  • 01m 57s / 100 yards
Comments:

Yucky, gross water! Fish, algae, grassy and lots of goose poop! :P
What would you do differently?:

Swim faster
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

T1 and T2 times included in bike split.
Bike
  • 47m 4s
  • 11.5 miles
  • 14.66 mile/hr
Comments:

Bike felt pretty good
What would you do differently?:

Bike faster.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

T2 included in bike time.

Felt slow here. The bike racks were not assigned by number so you just had to kind of find any rack to dump your bike (or patch of grass, which is what I did).
Run
  • 34m 7s
  • 3.25 miles
  • 10m 30s  min/mile
Comments:

wasn't my worst/wasn't my best. still need to work on pace! my shin did not bother me during the race, so that was good. felt pretty hot, but just tried to keep my HR comfortable which i was able to do. pretty much shuffled up that last b*tch of a hill then sprinted to the finish line.
What would you do differently?:

run faster.
Post race
Warm down:

stood under fire hose to cool off. rinsed my feet off b/c there were still clumps of sand in my socks from the beach where we swam. drank water, met up with family and waited for my sister to cross the finish line!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

lack of run training lately due to shin injury. :(

Event comments:

Overall, this was a fun race! Beautiful weather, nice race atmosphere. Very newbie friendly. A bit different than the other tris I've done with the 2 transition areas and no assigned bike racks, but would do this again just for the fun of it!

That totally sucks they didn't have split times, what kind of fly by night timing company were they using??  Must have been REALLY local, ha ha!  Looks like a pretty good overall time, anything under an hour and 30 is good in my book!  Sweet that you beat your sis, ha ha!  Nothing like some sibling rivalry to spice things up!  And so glad to hear there was no shin pain... YUK on the goose poopy water!  I thought they had to have some kind of clearance on the water being minimally CLEAN to have a tri?  Good race, Kristen!!

Bummer about no splits.  The swim sounds gross!  But, you beat your sister so that's all that matters, right?
