Okay, first, who is racing this? It's almost time!

Second, I know there have been a lot of past comments about the parks district setting up the swim in too shallow water, but I bet an SUV in the water will be easy to sight off!

interesting about the SUV... weirdness!

I was coming to post questions about the South Shore tri myself, so I'll just add to yours...  Is this race worth the money?  Obviously, a RAM Racing event, so you know the jersey will be great.  Just hurts my teeth to pay $130 (with a $5 code they sent out, whohoo *insert sarcasm*) for a sprint.   Of course, after registering for a HIM (and I can only imagine for you IronFolks) the registering pains are dulled, but still...

any thoughts welcomed, but quick.... they say  they have less than 50 spots left

I did it last year and the swim is a joke - its too shallow, you can run through the water for about a third of the swim distance. The bike portion on the LSD is nice, but the first stretch heading south is very narrow and congested. Heading back north is nice though. The run is fine and everything is well organized, but yeah its expensive.

I'm out of town this year that day - so that made the decision easy for me.

I'm doing it again this year.  I talked some coworkers into doing it precisely because the swim is so shallow.  They feel more confident trying it.  So it's just a fun day for me with my new people.

Otherwise, I'm not sure if I would have dropped the cash on it.  Though I did have a blast in the beer tent last year.

I will be there....for my first triathalon. When I registered,  I didn't know about the shallow swim nor the compartive price of the event. Regardless, I am looking forward to completing my first tri

I will be there as well.  I'm not technically "racing", I'm a guide for a challenged athlete.  There are 8-10 challenged athlete's competing with a group called Dare2Tri

I was a guide last year for this race and had a good time.  The swim is very shallow and I walked the whole swim with my athlete as he swam.  There may have been only 1 or 2 spots where I actually had to swim a little bit.

For you people that have raced this one before. On the swim, was the shallow water an issue because you it was literally to shallow to swim (i.e. you would hit the bottom on your catch) or more an issue that is was shallow enough that a lot of people would walk/run making it harder to swim around (or through/over them Wink)

90% confident that I will not. if I have to do a bunch of dolphin diving in and out and through shallow water I prefer not to be in a wetsuit. But it will be in the car in case I change my mind race morning

I've never worn a wetsuit and won't be tomorrow.  It's a fun race.

It was mostly because people were "water jogging" while others were trying to swim which made it strangely conjested.  Well at least I have never encountered runners before while swimming so it was a new experience

Although 2 years ago it was swallow enough in a few spots that your fingers would scrape the bottom.
