Overall Rank = 114/180

Age Group Rank = 31/40
Pre-race routine:

Packed all my gear up and in my car before heading to work. Left work @ 4:30 and got to the race @ 5:30. Payed, numbered and chipped. Pumped my tires. Racked and ready to go before 6pm, nuff time for a littel warmup.
Event warmup:

Short barefoot run. About a 6 or 7 minute warmup swim. Water was super warm - no wetsuit today.
Swim
  • 14m
  • 600 yards
  • 02m 20s / 100 yards
Comments:

A little congested at the beginning of the swim. Got sandwiched in between two big dudes. Somehow got away from them and it opened up after about 150 yards. Decent, strongish swim.
What would you do differently?:

Need to do more kicking. I have to remind myself to kick, and then after a while i realize "hey, i'm not kicking at all again". Not good at multi-tasking ;)
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

T1 Included with swim time.

I jogged with my bike and stopped to get on (didn't want a replay of last weeks bike mounting disaster).
What would you do differently?:

Not much. It was pretty clean.
Bike
  • 35m 58s
  • 12 miles
  • 20.02 mile/hr
Comments:

This was a pretty clean race. Tried to keep the effort kind of even. Catch my breath on the downhills to get ready for the next climb. Get in a good gear and drop down as the climb progresses to keep cadence up. Gear back up at the top of the climbs to get back up to speed for the flats. Did a fairly good job of staying out of traffic going into corners to make clean turns and not lose speed.
What would you do differently?:

I'd like to be able to get up the hills a little bit faster.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

T2 is included with Run Time.

I thought this was decent. The goal this week was to do everything as cleanly as possible (after last weeks fiasco). So i can probably go a little bit faster, but it was good. Cramped just a bit, my left calf, when i was taking off my shoe. Got off to the run very good this week. No walking !!
Run
  • 29m 32s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 09m 32s  min/mile
Comments:

This is an improvement, but i have lots of room to improve here. I got off to a good start, and made it up the first hill pretty well. Did "okay" down the first hill.
What would you do differently?:

I have to work on being able to run a little bit harder. I'm afraid if i push too hard i'm not going to finish or i'm going to have to walk to catch my breath.

Sprints/Hills !! Track Work !!
Post race
Warm down:

Actually did a little bit of stretching (got a root beer first, i didn't eat a whole lot so needed to get some calories in me). Took a jump in the lake, changed my clothes (oops, put my tri shorts on before i left work so my underwear never made it back into my tri bag, so i had to go commando on the way home).

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Swim - need to kick.
Bike - need to work on climbs
Run - need to do more hill and sprint training. Just so slow.

Event comments:

Just keeps getting better and better. They really have it down. Easy in/Easy out - with lots of fun in between :)
