Swim
  • 13m 21s
  • 805 meters
  • 01m 40s / 100 meters
Comments:

elite wave, started off good, some contact, lack of recent swimming showed up late in swim, felt good, was just a little tired and hr was getting high. did the best i could, but still got pretty much smoked by everyone in my wave. overall i was happy with the effort and time. i just need to train more.

2009 12m31s
2010 12m32s
2011 14m14s
2012 13m21s
What would you do differently?:

swim more
Transition 1
  • 01m 14s
Comments:

dropped bike on way out, hands were slick from salt water, bike just fell out of my hands, picked it up and continued on.
What would you do differently?:

not drop bike, get HR settled
Bike
  • 28m 45s
  • 12.5 miles
  • 26.09 mile/hr
Comments:

Time to get my fastest-bike-split-a-thon ass in gear. Had a hard time breathing and getting HR under control. Simply an issue with swim fitness that carried over to bike. First lap was not as fast as second, i finally started to get legs and lungs as the ride went on. pushed hard but not crazy hard, ran down all but 6 people, i was 7th into T2. Lots of traffic and negotiating passes on second loop. road bars made cornering a breeze, and if i was not in aero, i was in the drops hammering. Course record and PR, no complaints.

2009 32m50s
2010 32m13s this course was a mile longer
2011 30m00s
2012 28m45s
What would you do differently?:

not much, maybe warm up on the bike longer.
Transition 2
  • 01m
Comments:

almost killed a friend trying to rack my bike, lol!! got it in and had a hard time getting running shoes on.
What would you do differently?:

no idea
Run
  • 24m 8s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 46s  min/mile
Comments:

have not run in a month, was afraid IT band was gonna act up, it never did thankfully. High fived friends, walked the aid station thanking volunteers, on way back had a girl try and throw a deep out route pass with the water baggies, she missed and i went back to pick it up. High fived fellow racers on way in and out, nice local race, i know 100's of people here. Run was ok, pace was a bit off, faked it pretty good, not too terribly upset with run considering i had not run in a month. Training for a 5k woulda went a long way.

2009 26m14s
2010 25m03s
2011 22m58s
2012 24m08s
What would you do differently?:

not be hurt with multiple strains and issues that woulda allowed me to run train.
Post race
Warm down:

hung out walked around, met friends a few BTer's and went home to BeerBQ version 4, drank and ate all day, had a great time.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Event comments:

Rudy - way to absolutely kill it on the bike. Just awesome! Bet it made those beers taste extra good.

BTW - can't find that Chocolate stout anywhere up here.

Great race!
