Event warmup:

basically the walk to the water
Swim
  • 35m 52s
  • 1500 meters
  • 02m 23s / 100 meters
Comments:

I really enjoyed the swim. I felt strong and focused on technique. I would have liked to have been a wee faster but really a couple of minutes did not make a difference.

A lot of people still had wetsuits on.
What would you do differently?:

Have got more sleep the nite before. I am also a little bit sick with chest cough.

A little earlier at the race too as I was late racking. But I had spectators this time so that is good!
Transition 1
  • 02m 24s
Comments:

bike did fall in transition
What would you do differently?:

I dunno
Bike
  • 2h 27m 12s
  • 40 kms
  • 16.30 km/hr
Comments:

What an experience. I am proud of myself for hopping back on the bike though.
What would you do differently?:

More bike training. Better prep with gears and shifters and all of the above. There is a part of me that thinks my bike is a little off since I bought it, but nonetheless, rider competence would make a difference
Transition 2
  • 01m 28s
Comments:

Lol, I was so rattled that official racked my bike for me, I could not find my stuff with those transition mats... think I should still leave a bright towel on them. I was worried about being DQ and asked official re same
What would you do differently?:

towel on transition mat
Run
  • 1h 18m
  • 10 kms
  • 07m 48s  min/km
Comments:

At times I thought I was going at a faster pace and I likely was. I walked up the hills (they were little though) just to conserve energy to get it done. I was pretty hot.

Lots and lots of fan support.
What would you do differently?:

run harder
even more bricks
Post race
Warm down:

swim at the lake

What limited your ability to perform faster:

stupid effing bike mechenical and my riding competence

Event comments:

So well organized! Loved meeting Lisa Bentley. I want to come back. The race did not disappoint me... I just had issues!

Great fan support with Chris, Mom at course. Marj and Lyle at bike mark
and seeing Rob's wife and later Rob and my hero of the day -my neighbour Jen.

well, I actually had an extra km or two as my chain broke on first hill I walked back to transition. I had my head up high, but got a little teary when I saw neighbour Jen. She suggested I go to Expo to get bike fixed which I did. This took another 20min. So basically I lost almost an hour due to mechanical
