Swim
Comments: I was off about 10 secs from last year, but I'm pretty happy with the time considering my lack of swim training this year. Transition 1
Comments: Really good and smooth transition. Nothing surprising and my suit didn't get stuck. Bike
Comments: About a mile into the bike, it felt really hard to gain speed and it was really surprising considering I was on a flat section of the Henry Hudson. So I stop pedaling to see what was happening. My bike almost came to a dead stop. I couldn't figure out what the H#LL was going on. So, I decided to muscle through it. No dice, it was like riding on a training with high resistance. I then realized that it was my draft box on my SC that was rubbing down on the rear tire. I never had this issue before, but I recently changed tires and the continentals are a bit thicker than my previous tires. Race time decisions: I pulled over, got my draft box partially fixed and took out the repair kit inside the box to reduce the weight. Now what, I had the repair kit in hand and time to either ditch it or figure out a way to keep it with me in case I flat. So I jam it down the side of my trishorts and use the race belt to hold it close. I spent the remaining 24 miles with a repair kit on the side of my shorts… not a good feeling. What would you do differently?: Get my bike in order prior to the race Transition 2
Comments: pretty typical T2 for me. What would you do differently?: N/A Run
Comments: I really need to dial in on my race nutrition. This was my third race of the season and I'm still having stomach issues on the run. I've tried a few different approaches, but can't get it right yet. This run was met with a bloated stomach and drinking to much on the bike in preparation for a hot run. I had to stop at a portopotty to pee b/c I couldn't hold it any longer. On the bright side, my running is getting stronger. The consistent lifting and increased interval training is helping a lot with my run performance. What would you do differently?: I think I'm going to cut out gels for the next race and see what happens. Post race
Warm down: Chatted with friends and family. Compared notes with the team What limited your ability to perform faster: bike malfunction and body malfunction on the run. Last updated: 2012-01-24 12:00 AM

Woke up at 3:30am and took a shower to wake up. Standard milk & cereal, coffee, and half pb&j. Crashed at a friends on 82nd street, so was able to take my time and walk to transition.
No chance to warm up at this race. All you get is the 1 mile walk up to swim start.
