Subject: My daughters first tri! -- Awesome stuff

My 9 year old daughter finished her first tri yesterday at the New England Kids Tri held on the campus of MIT in Cambridge, MA. She had a great time, and everyone enjoyed themselved. Nearly 600 kids ages 6-15 raced, and the organizers and volunteers were fantastic.

It was incredible to watch her running down the finish, and certainly made this Dad a very happy & proud guy. .  I'm going to do a longer race report type post later, but wanted to get this out there now.

Here's my superstar after the finish!

That's awesome. I just signed my 8 year old for his first tri in 2 weeks.. We're going as a family and he'll race on Saturday and I'll do the Olympic on Sunday.. Very excited I know he'll freak out when he gets his usat membership card.

FANTASTIC!!!

My daughters are doing one next month - the younger (7) for her first time and the older (10) for the third, but her first at the "longer" kid distances. I hope the pictures I get are as adorable as yours!!!

Very cute! I'm think of signing my 2yo up for a super mini one they have here! It's not timed and parents can run with them.

Awesome - my daughter did the same tri yesterday at MIT...she has not taken her medal off and didn't want to shower after because she doesn't want the body marking to wash off.  She is all fired up for the next one...Haunted City tri in Salem.

Aw, congrats, kiddo! That is awesome stuff. I wish I had this when I was a kid, I think it's great that people here are getting their kids involved.

This is awesome!  Kids Tri's are the best.

Our local race organizer has a "Tri for Kids" at each of their summer races.  For 10 and Under, it's a 50m swim, 4 mi bike and 1 mi run.  My 4-yr old can't WAIT for next season when I told him he can enter (once his swimming gets a little stronger...they do the swim parallel to shore where the kids could stand up anytime, but that's beside the point).

Congrats for your little racer!  Soon she'll be zooming by you from a later start wave...
