Climbinggonzo - 2012-08-25 9:12 AM Where did you swim this morning?

And x2 on the traffic, the construction slow downs in Hinckley are absurd, that 3 miles ate up an hour of my day yesterday.

By the Icehouse, I think that's what it's called, and small beach near there.

I'll have to head out there Monday morning for a nice recovery swim. We're staying at the Comfort Suites and I think that's right behind us.

See you all on the race course tomorrow!

I'm too tired for a lengthy report, they have a couple kinks to work out but I liked it.  If you want one word to sum up the experience, that word would be "headwinds"

Great race, especially considering it's the first year. No major issues that I'm aware of, a couple tiny bugs to work out that will be easy. For example they had a good number of water stations on the run except they could have placed more strategically. I haven't got my official time yet either because they didn't have the newest results pages stapled up, so I need to wait until they're online. I also have a wicked sunburn, but that's my fault!

Congrats to all of you who've done it.
Would love to hear more about the swim in the bay and water quality. Bike course and run too.
Gonna put this HIM down on the list.

They definitely have some kinks to work out. I'm hesitant to say too much about this race right now because I don't want to sound negative due to having a not so great race. They did a lot of "fancy" things that turned out to be more of a PITA than anything. Swim really has no need for the boat, but it is a cool start. Water was almost black when you jumped in. Transition in Amsoil was nice, yet almost dangerous. Imagine running across a frozen concrete floor with wet feet. Very slippery and very cold. Bike was really a good course once you got out of town. The first 9 miles were rough roads with railroad crossings at 45 degree angles and lots of turns. The middle 40 was about the best you could hope for in a bike route. Last six was more of the same as the first 9. I'm not going to comment on the run because that is where I blew the hell up. I looked like a salt cake when Imwas done.

Put up a race report, I liked the race and am signed up for next year.    http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp...

Gonzo, did we talk about our lack of suntan lotion early in the run?  I had a quick word about it with someone.

I'm finally home from our trip and had a chance to get my race report done as well.  Bottom line?  I wouldn't hesitate to do this race again.
