Pre-race routine:

Woke at 3:30 (Actually 2:30 because my son was up and wouldn't fall back to sleep. Thankfully my WONDERFUL wife took care of him so I could sleep a bit more) Ate some toast, Java and headed out at about 4:30. I picked up my dad and we headed to the park.
Event warmup:

I jogged for about 10 min to familiarize myself with the course. I was in wave 6 so I waited until the first waves went before I got in the water to warm-up there. I did probably 10 minutes of swimming.
Swim
  • 08m 39s
  • 400 yards
  • 02m 10s / 100 yards
Comments:

This was a good swim for me. I think the course may have been a bit long-ish because all of the times were a bit slow. Maybe the people were just slow swimmers though. Anyways, I kept up better than usual and was very happy with that!
What would you do differently?:

Keep up my pace from the first 100 the whole way.
Transition 1
  • 01m 4s
Comments:

I was a bit slow compared to others here but that was the additional 5 seconds or so taking my suit off. Negligible time loss for me.
What would you do differently?:

Go faster.
Bike
  • 37m 15s
  • 15 miles
  • 24.16 mile/hr
Comments:

First: I have to apologize to the 50 or so people that I endangered by riding on the right side of the road. I never heard this instruction in the race meeting and I rode head-on into HUGE groups of people. I am very sorry if I did anything to harm anyone.
Second: I think this course suited me perfectly. I have a good position on my bike and was able to take advantage of the high speeds.
What would you do differently?:

Not ride in the oncoming lane. (Totatlly unintentional!!!!)

Transition 2
  • 00m 48s
Comments:

It's T2. Nothing exciting happened.
Run
  • 21m 46s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 06m  min/mile
Comments:

I think the course needs to change. There were runners on the bike course. That is very dangerous. Some people just aren't that aware of their surroundings. I hope this gets changed in the future.
Otherwise it was a good run. Nice little trek through the woods.
What would you do differently?:

Push harder.
Post race
Warm down:

I grabbed my stuff out of transition and got the heck outta there. We had to get home so I could go to the parade with Jennie and the kids.

Event comments:

I only give it a 4 because the course has some areas that IMO are dangerous. Other than that, as usual, RDE does an excellent job!
