Swim
  • 02m
  • 100 yards
  • 02m / 100 yards
Comments:

I was second out of the water in my group of 3. I felt good swimming.
What would you do differently?:

Practice more
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Put on shoes outside pool, run on grass to get helmet and bike.
What would you do differently?:

My shoes were hard to get on....need to loosen my Yankz. Normally I do transtions faster
Bike
  • 10m 52s
  • 2.4 miles
  • 13.25 mile/hr
Comments:

They gave me the wrong directions when getting out of transition so I went the wrong way. One minute into the bike portion my number on my bike came off. I passed one person, he passed me back and then I passed him for good. I hit 20 mph on one point on the course. They misdirected again into the transtion area when I had to do another loop. I used my regular pedals instead of my clip ins as the bike was so short.
What would you do differently?:

I would practice more and try and use my common sense as to where to go.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

I fast as I just set down my helmet, hung my bike and off I went.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 08m 55s
  • 1.2 miles
  • 07m 26s  min/mile
Comments:

I pushed hard from the start. When I got to water station I walked a little to drink the water. I passed 2 people including those from previous wave. On the sprint to the finish I raced this boy and smoked him...finished about 50 feet ahead of him.
What would you do differently?:

Keep practicing.
Post race
Warm down:

Walk around, tried to get warm, cheered on Shasha and Libby.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of practice

Event comments:

I like doing longer races better. The girls that won my AG compete in a National Level in cross country and run sub 6 m/m.

I saw two road bikes with aerobars on them. There were about 6 road bikes, and only mine and one other were 700 wheels and regular not kids size road bikes. I got some nice comments on my Trek 1000 that I bought with my paperroute money.

I felt did my best. I was a bummed that I didn't place, but it isn't all about winning.

Woooo hoooo...great race Emily.  Yeah, you definitley run faster than I do...I think I need to train more.  Either that or I need to be younger!  Just do these short races as good practice for the longer ones.  After a while you'll get a good feel for what your best distance is!  Sounds like you all had a great time!!!

You did excellant Emily...we are so proud of you!

Each race you learn more and the next one you are more prepared.

Congrats on a smoking run time...nice swim and great bike!

Not long you'll be passing me on every run when we race the same races....hm....Lake T in July and Brewhouse in August...I'm going to have to work hard on the bike to get as far in front of you as possible.

Awesome plus you had a great attitude cheering on your sisters & saying positive things to them!

Great job Emily!!  Excellent run time.  Sucks to be in the wrong place on the bike, and it's not your fault.

Nice job Emily! You didn't even comment on the lousy weather! You are SO right that it's not about "placing" - you did your best- you learned more..and found out what your body can do for you. Plus- wasn't it fun smokin that kid ???It makes it even more fun to have your family participate & spectate...I am hoping to enjoy a few of your races soon....setting some goals for the next one??
Congrats!

Woo Hoo... Way to go Emily!

I know this sounds odd but I like the fact that you had some problems in this race, like being given wrong directions, as this is good experience for when things go wrong in the longer (sprint) races. You didn't let these things get to you and you pressed on and did well. CONGRATS to you!!!

And, you're right, it isn't all about winning but your comment, "On the sprint to the finish I raced this boy and smoked him," shows you have the right spirit!
