Kind of early, but who is in?

New course this year.  Looks interesting.  Running over the MHH bridge should be cool.  I did like the new course from Fair Park so I guess we will have to see how this one measures up.  Hopefully the weather will be a little better than last year.

I admit, I got up race morning, looked out the window and went back to bed.  All those who toughed it out have my deepest respect.

I have! Only because my company paid for my entry. Couldn't pass up a free half marathon!

Not sure yet.  My decision to run it in the rain in 2011 landed in me in a boot with an ankle sprain, so I kind of want to seek revenge at this one!

I'm in.  I did run last year in that crazy cold and wet weather and managed to PR!  Hoping to reset that PR this December as this is my annual half-marathon though it'll be a different course.

I'll be in also..

Plus like Karen, my company is paying my entry fee if I wear my texas oncology shirt.  They have paid for a couple of 5k's already this year.

I"m doing the san antonio 1/2 on nov 11th also.

Like 90% sure I'm in. First time to run White Roc....errr....Dallas Marathon.

Baby is due in October so training will be spastic for about 6 weeks in training (which is the bulk of the mileage) so I'll be hammering down until then and maintaining, and hopefully building some.

Need to get this in because I want to get a Mary in before IMTX.

Less than 2 weeks to go!  I am coming from VA to do this race and getting nervous about your warm temperatures.

I have not been to Dallas before.  It sounds like the course is new this year.  Any advice for the race?  It the area rolling? flat? hilly?  Race well organized?  General thoughts for a new person?

Most people say that we do not have any hills in Dallas.

While I do not know the course, I can't even think of a hill in the Dallas/Whiterock area.

It's a new course so not sure what to expect just yet.  Course Profile is online.

There's some elevation change but nothing too dramatic.  Normal temps should be somewhere around 40-50F at that time.  May be pretty windy so just be ready for that.  Always a well-organized race (the last 2 times I did it).  I've only done the half-marathons but definitely a very professionally-run event.

While the course won't go here... Loving is a HILL and it is by White Rock Lake.

By mile 18 or 19  can't remember.. it' s where they have the cliff block shot zone is just about the only real hill, but it's short and steep. However the course goes to the right of it and you end up with two smaller hills, called the dolly parton's.

It's more the timing of the hills than the severity though.  couple short quick ones, early on turtle creek area.  mile 4-5 ish

Oh in the sperry-loop, right?

After running the Tyler Half-Marathon, this did not seem like  hill to me... haha

I ran the half last year...in the cold and rain, but I loved it.  Running the whole thing this year.  Weather looks to be warm.  Ugh.

For long runs, over 13 miles, I've trained wearing a hydration belt.  I'm curious how many of you will run the race using your belt.  I plan to, even if it makes me look goofy.  I hate to be w/o water and don't mind that it might actually slow me down.

I don't do well grabbing water from the stations.

This will be my second half marathon, first was run during a 70.3 event two months ago. I did not use a fuel belt during training and I do not plan on using a fuel belt during the race. The trail I run on in Longview for my long runs has water fountains. I usually don't stop for water until mile 6, and it's more of a comfort sip than rehydrating.

My plan is to walk any aid stations and have a couple of gels handy.

Looking warmer than I was expecting but I would rather have it warm than what it was like last year.

I so so seriously undertrained it is scary.

I would take last years weather over the forcasted weather. For me the rain didnt start till mile 3 and I was already warmed up. After that I felt pretty good in it. Now the walk to the car sucked.  I am hoping it will cool off just alittle more than the 60s.

Yes, we'll be in the 60F's during the race so overheating is going to be more of a concern.  Definitely shorts and tank top (or tri kit) weather as currently forecasted. May even wear a visor vs a cap for more cooling (but I have dark hair so may want the white cap).

Probably going to be 3-5% slower than "ideal" temps.
