Subject: September oly tri near Chicago?

Hi guys,

I'd like to do my last Oly tri of the season towards the end of September, but I'm having trouble finding one that's easy driving distance from Chicago. Anyone know of any good races? Thanks!

There is one at Lake Gevea (TriRock series) on September 15th.

I am doing the Sprint in Lake Geneva on September 15th. I think there is an Olympic distance as well.  It is a very hilly course; both bike and run.

Thanks! And thanks for the tip about the hills. I usually do okay with hills on the bike, but hills on the run kill me! 

Do you guys usually get up early and drive out the morning of the race? or do you get a hotel for the night nearby?

I live in the northern suburbs and will drive up in the morning. Usually I can't really sleep anyway the night before a race - so I'm up early anyway.

I've done that race a couple times under the old management. I drove, but it's only ~45 min from where I'm at. Can't see traffic being bad that early in the morning.

Tri the creek near South Bend is on the 23rd. Sprint and Olympic but with 1000 meter swim.

That one looks like a good option. They are both probably about the same driving time for me, but looks like Tri the Creek starts later in the day, so I won't have to get up so early.

Have you done that race before? What is the course like? Is it hilly?
