Subject: Using Fitzgerald Plan...extend to 29 weeks?

I have a question related to my plan for IMLP.  I've decided to use a Fitzgerald 24 week plan, but have decided to extend it to 29 weeks.  My next year is going to look like this:

Aug-Dec: Run focus, 2xswim/week, 3xbike/week (alternate long ride and solid brick on weekends)

Dec-Jan (about 8 weeks of prep work)

10 weeks of "base" (2 extra weeks thrown in in case of injury and/or life, figured I can extend a couple weeks if all is going well)

10 weeks of "build" (same as above)

9 weeks of "peak" which includes a 2 week taper (there is an extra week in here too, but that is to account for a week trip to Disney with the family)

Thoughts?  Thanks for any input...

It looks fine with me but honestly I think you may want to add a short break.  Trust me a year out to train for a race is a LOOOONG TIME.  Burnout can come very easy.  If you extend the plan I wouldn't worry about the structure too much.  If you miss something oh well.  I promise you come next June your body will be tired and your Long workouts will be demanding on your body.

Nothing wrong with Fitzgerald's plans though, I use them and like them.  They fit my schedule very well.

Good point. I am planning about 2 weeks off in late oct/early November. I'm also planning on some down time before I really start my base/build/peak.
